I really like the grid settings in InDesign

I love how Photoshop has the dedicated menu for setting up guides, but surprisingly NOT AVAILABLE in Illustrator? Strange, as Illustrator should be the one that implement this feature in the first place. For layout design, typography poster, infographics, etc., this guide setup will be a lot handy. I know there are workaround for creating guides, but I think having a dedicated guide menu setup will be much better.

Adobe Photoshop has a dedicated menu for making guides lines with some customization on gutter, margin, columns, row, etc., but why this useful feature is non existent in Illustrator where this is really important when making some layout design? I hope this is implemented soon.

It is very important for a designer to align the objects in right position. Guides helps us in this case.
But in Illustrator, there is no feature to set guides at desired position in pixels, points or percentage as like as Photoshop. So, please add this feature. It would help many designers including me.

Having a guide layout in Illustrator like this one in Photoshop would be really helpful. You get it in InDesign too so why no Illustrator I wonder

InDesign has very powerful features that make it easy to quickly create layout structure with Margins and Columns, Ruler Guides, and Create Guides. Most designers use a grid of some sort to create structure and flow in a layout and I wish that Illustrator had these same features so that it was not so painful to create infographics and other illustration heavy designs that still need structure.

That feature will make our flow faster and easier, like wherein Ps.

You can workaround this by using an action or a template. No need to drag guides manually.

Hmm, Ben, I know nothing about a Guide Tool in Photoshop.
I am not sure what you mean.
Are you talking about Ps’s View > New Guide / New Guide Layout dialogs?

Have you tried GuideGuide extension?

Simply make the 'make guides' option as a tool to make margins, guides, bleeds etc without the need of using a shape or vector shape. Just like in photoshop.

It would save time and be MUCH easier if you could just type in the Margin you want just like you do a bleed when creating a new document just like InDesign. Its time consuming and a pain to drag guides in and make sure that they are Perfect.

I just learned about this in Photoshop! What?! Come on Illustrator, you have needed this feature since the beginning of time. Please Please Please make this happen yesterday!

The thing you are talking about is the New Guideline Layout, right? You should have named that to make a reviewer’s life easier.
And yes, great suggestion, Ai should definitely adapt this.

The ability to create guidelines exactly as you can do on Photoshop.

I want to be able to split my artboard into sections columns/rows of equal measurements as I can do when designing on photoshop.

It's so limiting to only be able to choose guidelines by a specific measurement width apart.

I design files for print such as A3 - 420mm x 297mm
If I want to split that into 4 columns of equal distance - t's just a massive headache figuring it out, so I don't bother and do it by eye! Would much rather have an easy way to ensure it's accurate like I can on photoshop.

It`s really strange they didn`t copy this option from Photoshop (maybe they did in 2020 version, I don`t know), BUT
I just found a similar tool in the toolbar section on the left. It is called Rectangular Grid tool, and it`s located in Line Segment tool "folder" (see attached picture)
