Color dropdown gets drawn in the top left corner of the screen when first called
When first called, the color dropdown appears in the top left corner of the display. The second call renders it where it should be. Also (not noticeable in the video, since Sharex doesn’t record clicks) — I had to click the chip twice to make it appear.

This only happens the first time I use the Appearance Panel. So launch Illustrator. Make a rectangle. Use the Appearance Panel. Click on the color option and the panel will appear at the far left, upper corner of the screen. It only does this once after starting Illustrator. After that it works as expected.
