An L-systems panel like Inkscape, but where you can use symbols too.
Could be really powerful for pattern making, placing editable symbols or drawing lines or basic shapes with rules that can create patterns outside of the wallpaper set, including Penrose tiling and other fractals.

Stroked Object Transform Bug Constrain Error Adobe Illustrator CC 2017-2018
When using the transform panel to resize an object or multiple objects, it goes without saying if you select constrain, there should be confidence it will scale respectively. A circle remains a circle, a square a square, a 16:9 Graphic stays 16:9 etc. etc.
Unfortunately I have noticed a very concerning bug where if one of the objects has a stroke, it will not transform constrained. I noticed because the object I grabbed had a perfect circle, that seems maybe 5% horizontally compressed afterward.
I have done this screencast to show the bug does not occur on non-stroked objects- only…

Option to have Measurements for Line - Full or Scaled.
If I were to draw a line from pint A to B the size of that line is displayed under the line. This should be optional and be able to be turned off. Also have the ability to state scaled size so it might have arrows point to star and end of line and the size in the middle <--------- 10" ----------> or it might say 10" @ 1/10 actual size 100".

Add CAD path creation/modification tools
Some wonderful tools that would help are Trim, Extend, and Corner tools.
Trim allows you to stop a line at another line. So if you drew a + you could trim the top to the - and make a T.
Extend does the opposite. It makes a line longer until it hits a target line. It turns |- into a T (rotated).
Corner tool trims or extends two lines as need to make a corner. |- becomes L by clicking both lines.
Look to AutoCad or Revit for examples.

XD style snapping and spacing
Adobe Experience Design has a nice snapping and spacing function that would drastically increase the power of Illustrator. Being able to more easily repeat objects and adjust the spacing between them by clicking and dragging while being able to see a measure of the spacing.

Add an Illustrator shortcut to resize my current tool
Please add an Illustrator shortcut to resize my current tool! In Photoshop, if you're on the brush tool, then hold down CTRL and OPT, you can drag up/down to resize the brush. That would be GREAT in Illustrator!

Select objects to then apply auto selection criteria
Once objects are selected apply the auto select criteria such as "same fill color" or "same outline". If this is possible, I can't figure out how to do it. I can only choose to select all of the items of a single color, because I have items already selected. Also, it would be great for quotes to be able to get a quick total of the number of items selected. Is this information listed somewhere on screen that I've never noticed?

Make Drawing Guides Thicker
With the onset of 4K & 5K monitors, the red dotted guides have become incredibly hard to see. I would like to suggest that the guides be made thicker or that there be a way for me to increase their thicknesses in settings so they can be seen better.

Randomizer
We've all come across a time when we needed to repeat an element, but it needs to be transformed slightly different in each instance, whether that be position, rotation, reflection, scale or shearing. So, I propose a randomizing tool/function that you could use to make that happen. First you draw the elements you wanted to be randomly affected, then draw a shape to enclose them all. Select "Randomize" and they become something like a group.. You select one, and they're all selected. You could transform one, and the amount that you transformed it would be the limit any of them…

Symmetric Curve while using Pen Tool
As in Corel Draw if we are using a "Three point curve tool" we can make it a symmetric circular shape curve by simply pressing the shortcut "SHIFT" key.
I think it should be in illustrator with the pen tool. We could make it circular by pressing any shortcut key. as most of the time symmetric circular curves are required instead of simple smooth curves.5 votes -
path eraser tool - erasing multiple path selection (worked in CS5, does not in CC)
I jumped from CS5 to the current CC version of illustrator. As a technical illustrator, I often need to erase portions of paths. The easiest method for accomplishing this task is to select all the paths I intend to erase portions of using the "path eraser tool" and simply go from path to path erasing what I need using the "path eraser tool". This function works properly in CS5 but at some point afterwards has been lost.
However, as soon as you erase a portion of the first path, all selected paths are unselected except for the current path being…

Contextual Pie-menus, like Radiant menus by Wacom
creating a contextual "shortcut" menu overlapping layer to access quickly Tools. This is a kind of Radiant Menu developed by Wacom on their tablet for example or Alias marking menu. This should really improve workflow ergonomics.

More Pattern Tiling Options
In Illustrator, it would be some next level powerful stuff if we could tile patterns based on shapes like these attached (as well as just blocks and hexagon). They are all based on a single shape that tessellates.

Custom Measured Units for Accurate Drawing
Today I zoom into the pixel level to draw 'in scale' - I would love the option to create custom units of measurement for my drawing and then have Snapping, Grids and Measuring Tools utilize them.
For instance, make a illustration of a floor plan at scale but decide on 50px = 1 virtual foot. I could label this 'Feet' and accurately size lines and objects using this increment of measurement.
Would be fantastic for my furniture and architecture sketching, as well as for many other hobbyists and professionals who know they get a more presentable result from Illustrator than…

Live preview of paths while editing
I would expect that the shape or a path while transforming would be rendered in a way as it will look at the end of my editing. Now, when i move handles or points / transform the object, the original shape stays the same and changes shows only as a line in the color of the layer. I understand, that for precision-transformation it's beter to see just the thin line (smart guides, snapping etc.), but while reshaping curves it would be great to see the final shape in real time.

Tracing with machine learning, Sensei, or something similar
My question is: Is there is any program or chance that the illustrator trace will use less points and be more accurate?
I love using the illustrator and I love tracing pictures with hand, but sometimes I just don't have the time or the energy to do it manually and the available trace solution is just not 10/10 for die cut lines and sometimes logo recreations (when the customer can send only a 100x100 pixel file, because of reasons).
If there was a chance you made something that would check, analyse, and learn from my (and other volunteers') manual tracings…3 votes -
Restrict Pan to work only Horizontally / Vertically with a Shift modifier
I'd love if there was a key we could hold down to restrict the hand tool to only pan perfectly vertical or horizontal. Would make it easier to develop for web — you could quickly get a sense of how a site would work when the user scrolls.

Double Click last point to close a shape with the pen tool.
When making a shape with the pen tool, double clicking the last point made should close the shape, instead of having to go to the first point manually.

Adobe Draw
I use the Adobe Draw app daily in unison with Illustrator and Photoshop. It would be hugely helpful if this app allowed for brush edge softness to be altered (much like in Photoshop.)
I use this app for hand lettering and iconography sketching in Illustrator, but mostly for Digital Painting in Photoshop. Brush versatility and customization is vital.

New Tool Idea: "Drag Draw"
I've developed a novel way of drawing vector shapes using a delayed "drag point" method which at first seems counter-intuitive, but is actually closer to the way people draw with pens and brushes, because the drawing point is distanced from the moving point by a controlled amount (as if drawing with a chain), smoothing out the resulting line. My working demo was built in Javascript and can be observed in the attached video, but would be much more powerful within Illustrator and Photoshop. The tool I created allows me to export SVGs and gives me the ability to create smooth…
