  1. Show file previews in Open Recent Files

Show a thumbnail of Recent Files, much like how the Icon View in the Mac OS Finder displays them.

  2. Add a Save Preset button into the legacy File New dialog

Illustrator recently added a button to save the current New Document settings as a preset: https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657/suggestions/35253820
Please add a similar one into the legacy dialog too.

  3. Is there a way to turn off the "Help Toolbar" (grey bar with "?") at the bottom of the screen?

Can this be a Preference to be turned off if not needed? It eats into valuable real estate at the bottom. I used to be able to view an 8.5 x 11 document @100% on my 27" iMac. Now I have to reduce it down to fit.

  4. 「シンボルオブジェクト」に対してのコンテクストタスクバーの搭載 Installation of a context taskbar for "symbol objects"

    「シンボルオブジェクト」に対してのコンテクストタスクバーの搭載も要望として、是非お願いします。特に置換するときが格段になるはずなので。
Please also request the installation of a context taskbar for "symbol objects". Especially when it comes to replacing, it should be much more.

  5. Text accessibility checker

It would be great if adobe design tools provided a built in checker or warning system for type that does not meet the 4:5:1 standard for contrast. Currently I have to use third party tools to verify that the colors have enough contrast. Would be great if I could do that right in that app or if a warning popped up similar to overset text.

  6. Show build number on splash screen

Ai is evergreen, sure, SaaS and things...

But it’s extremely important to know what exact build we are using all the time since features and bugs differ.
Help > About shows the build number, but why not show it directly on the splash screen as well?

  7. Unify / bring closer the contextual task bar with the simplify/smooth adjustment bar

When I chose Edit Path from the contextual task bar to smooth or simplify a path, the slider bar for the smooth menu pops up somewhere near the path not on the same contextual task bar, so on multiple actions that means a lot of mouse travel from the contextual task bar to the simplify/smooth adjustment bar.

  8. Knobs.

Just more knobs. There should be a knob next to every input that takes an angle value. The Scribble effect has one. The Gradient palette doesn't. The Transform palette has one but it could use another one along with a couple of text input boxes as an option to move an object a specified distance along a particular angle instead of moving it in X and Y. The angle value in the transform section of Properties doesn't have a knob. Scatter brush options have two horizontal sliders and no knobs. Put a knob next to each of those sliders.

  9. Correct View > Snap to Grid shortcut from Cmd/Ctrl+" to proper Cmd/Ctrl+'

My request is a bit nerdy, but hey! I have been using Illustrator for 'ages' and one of the shortcuts is simply not correct. I always think it's cute, in a way, but still.
The shortcut to show or hide the grid is listed as Ctrl + "
This is impossible to achieve since you need the 'Shift' key to type the double quotation marks :)
So, I think it should be Ctrl + ' .
The shortcut to snap to the grid is fun in this light; it's Ctrl + Shift + "
So, I was wondering if anyone…

  10. Make the font selection panel less intrusive by making it editable and moveable

The font selection panel currently takes up a large portion of the center screen, making it difficult to see the font changes on a large scale. It would be nice if the panel could be editable and moveable, like other panels on Illustrator. Also, it could be positioned on the right side of the screen by default and made slightly transparent, to see through.

  11. Stop covering the document tabs with expanded docked panels

If I dock panels to sides of the application frame, expanding the ones from the top panel groups will cover the document tabs, like the GIF shows.
In a situation when it’s important to know what is the current document (they can differ slightly) this is especially irritating.

Please nudge them down a bit!

  12. Panelize Blend Options, Offset Path, etc.

In pre-2020 Illustrator versions, the Path -> Simplify tool was a window. Post 2020, it got changed into a live panel which, when opened, doesn't halt the focus and lets you change settings while you move around the artboard with the Hand tool or Zoom in or such.
It is sadly the only "classic" Object tool that got this treatment. Other tools, especially Blend Options, Offset Path, Envelope Distort with Warp, etc. would benefit greatly from similar panelisation. It's not a great user experience that I can't zoom or pan while I'm trying to offset my path.

  13. Show/Collapse Option for the Right-Click Menu Items

The Right-Click menu is getting too long. How about making an option to collapse or send to a fly-out window from the right-click menu, the least used tools/commands? Or, the ability to roll-up (or keep unrolled) the sections in the right-click menu? And the next time AI is started, the settings appear as they were from a previous session.

  14. Make USEFUL hover hints for ALL the options, fields, menu commands

Clearly the team doesn’t really care about making hover hints to be a learning tool.

Rarely these actually try to say what an option or a field does or controls: like 'Start editing similar shapes together' for the 'Global Edit' button in the Control panel, or 'Click to pick arrowhead to apply to start point of path' in Stroke panel...

But in most cases the hint is extremely rudimentary.
Try to hover the 'W' field in Transform panel — you’d get 'W value'. W?! Weight? Wand? Why not say 'Width Value', or even 'Set Width for the selected objects'?

    Then…

  15. Preference for keyboard increments in NUMERICAL value boxes

I love being able to use the up/down keys to change the values of the numerical values in panels and dialog boxes such as OFFSET PATH.

The problem is that the incremental jumps are to far (1/8 of an inch when set to inches). We can use modifier keys to increase or decrease this jump, BUT it is still big jumps.

I can find no other way to adjust this other than moving to Points or pixels for the measuring through right clicking the ruler, even though I am working in inches. This moves the increment to those base values:…

  16. Allow to change transparency/opacity with digit (number) keys, as in Photoshop

Photoshop allows us to start typing numbers and thus change the opacity for the selected layers. If we are fast enough, we can type something like '57' and Ps takes it as 57%. Pressing zero makes it 100%.

There is no way to disable this in Ps... and it doesn’t allow to use digits keys for any other command or a tool.

Ai allows to map digits just fine (and 1 and 2 are used for Quick Pen Tool currently), and it also allows to map keys to opacity values in Keyboard Shortcuts > Tools — although these are not…

  18. Group all Gen ai features into one menu

    Originally by René Andritsch

With the advent of more and more Gen AI features I highly wish that there is a dedicated Gen AI menu item in the object menu where all those features can be found.
And this can and should be redundant as the Pattern fill can be with the Pattern Command (and others where they are already) but they should also be found in this new Gen AI Menu to have everything AI related in one place. No guessing just a single place to look for these features and there will be more obviously.

  19. Allow to customize the Contextual Task Bar

I want to be able to customize the Contextual Task Bar, add the functions I need to the panel (tools, menus, actions, scripts, etc.). Please add a configurator like in the toolbar.

  20. Add a slider to the History panel to quickly review the states of the document

If we want to go back to a certain history state of the current document , we can scroll the History panel and click each step item, guessing the time, judging by the names of these, the scrollbar position (limited by the capped amount of steps)...
It’s a guesswork in most cases, since some steps still have generic names (like always 'Move' and not 'Move Point', 'Move Handle', 'Move Segment', 'Move Path', 'Move Group'...)

Can I just grab a slider and scrub with it, seeing all the previous states rendered on canvas — and fast? Today Ai sometimes takes too…
