The ability to check an option for "convert lines to shapes" when I export different formats
When exporting a file to SVG.... I wish there was a check box where I can specify it converts all lines to shapes on export to SVG... This way I do not have to do the conversion manually... and then revert back when I save ai version...
Often I get messages that distract me and then I forget to revert back and accidentally save the ai version with lines as shapes... then my mast ai version gets messed up...
3 votesHi Steve,
Thanks a lot for reporting the feature request. When you say shape do you mean you want lines to get converted to SVG elements? Does this apply to the other shapes like, ellipse, circle or rectangles as well?

9-point magnetic object-to-grid (or-grid to-object) without smart guides
Could you consider a feature used in Esko Graphics (Artpro) for the placement of objects (9-point grid) to a crosshair or placing a crosshair to an object. This would expand current align and artboard functions into one clean and user friendly feature. Would also improve functions such as Mirror, Scale, Paste in place, copying to correct location across various files even if rulers are not set the same. For more details see: http://docs.esko.com/docs/en-us/artpro
I can expand on this for you on request. Might answer a lot of similar requests into one new feature!1 votePlease elaborate on the request, share some screenshots or mockups, and provide some info about the cases which can benefit from this functionality.

Export to resolutions below 72 DPI
Currently export to raster formats seem to have a 72 DPI minimum. For making thumbnail versions of art, it would be great to be able to export to lower resolutions. It is a drag to have to use Photoshop to do a job that it seems like Illustrator could easily do by itself.

Hi,
You can use File > Export > Export for Screens or Window > Asset Export. It allows you to export till 0.5x scale which is 36DPI. Also, this allows you enter height or width by which you can even go below 36DPI as honors what ever size you mention. I hope this helps you.

Rotate multiple shapes one time but each ones around its anchor point
Dear Adobe
Can we please have the possibility to select many shapes and rotate them all one time but each one be rotated around its anchor point?
I think it will help us to make great designs quickly.
Thanks and I hope you take my proposal in consideration2 votesHi Nacer,
Does the menu item Object > Transform > Transform Each… not work for you? You can also choose the reference point on the 9-point reference widget in the dialog.
Thanks,

Highlight the layer that is selected on the artboard
When selecting an object, it's extremely hard to find the layer. Can the layer be auto selected/highlighted when selecting an object?
3 votesWhen one or more objects of a Layer are selected, the Layer gets highlighted and also indicates a selection. To locate the object in the Layer panel – see if this works. Select the object, click on the Layer panel flyout menu and pick ‘Locate Object’.

Ability to precisely control the center of a radial gradient, its hilite angle/length
Add more options to the Gradient tool, especially the radial gradient option. The ability to move the center of the radial gradient would be very useful for cartographers making maps and having the ability to show spheres (3-D circular objects) with a source of light northwest (or any other angle) of the circular object. The attached file should better explain the desired outcome. Your competitors (CorelDraw and Canvas) have had that feature for years, yet Illustrator is more often used for making maps than the other software packages.
2 votesHi Kazimierz,
You can modify the center of the radial gradient. Just choose the Gradient tool (G) with the objects selected (and gradient applied). Drag it across the shape. The start point comes the center of the gradient.
Does that work for you?

Change the layer an object is located on
If you have a large artboard with multiple objects and layers it is really time consuming to organize your layers when all you can do is drag and drop. I think it would be useful if you could right click on an object and "move to layer" like you can in muse.
4 votesThere is a way – let us know if this works for you.
- Select the object(s).
- Highlight the layer you want the selection to go to.
- Object menu or right-click > Arrange > Send to Current Layer -
Asset Export - Filename field is too short
I need the filename field to be longer in the Asset Export panel. There's not enough room for clientnamedepartmentnameclr_logo naming schemes.

Hi,
Here what you can do is go to fly-out menu in Asset Export panel and select list view. By doing this you will get bigger size for Asset name. If that also falls short you can increase the size of panel horizontally.

libCC remain path aspect vs PDF like
When incorporating an object from a library, (but the same behavior occurs if the file is placed) the Object lose all the appeareance and is imported as expanded wth some "clipping path added"
however, the Appearance information is still in the file because if you ask to edit the original all is fine.
Could it be possible to add a preference in the "embed" menu to ask if you embed as "Pdf" or as "AICB" the same dialog you can have in Saving Clipboard Prefs ?
This could be really valuable.
Thanks
1 voteHi Jean-Michel,
Press the Option key while dropping graphics from CC Library to artboard in Illustrator to bring the ‘original’ AI content. This will directly embed the graphic. Without the Option key it places the graphic, and all AI files get placed as PDF, hence the issues.
Does the Option key work for you?
Thanks,

Brush tool stops working
When drawing a complex shape with the brush tool it just stops working after a certain amount of time. I'm not sure if it is because it has used too many points to make the shape or what, but its very frustrating. FIX YOUR PROGRAM PLEASE.
1 voteAnthony, if this is still a problem for you, please provide a test file (here in comments or via sharewithai@adobe.com) and some details on this:
– does the behavior, once is happens, affect only one document or others as well?
– does it stay when you save, relaunch the app and reopen the file?
– does deleting some portion of the art fix the problem?

stop Live corners assumptions
When drawing with the curvature, I haven't tested with regular pen, if you draw a mix of corners and somewhat curved surfaces, then you go back to add some nice radiused corners, you will likely be annoyed by illustrator Thinking that you intended to draw a giant chamfer.
No, I didn't draw a large chamfer. Do not assume I drew a large chamfer. Assuming a radius when illustrator sees a tangent arc connecting two lines is Great. But with chamfer there's nothing to be tangent to. So just because I drew two sharp corners in a row, before two curved…
1 voteThis should not be happening. Seems like a bug. The corner should not become a chamfer unless you do an Option-click on the live corner widget. Could you please share more details on when this happens?
Thanks,

Save for Web
The new and NOT IMPROVED Illustrator does not allow me to save gifs and jpegs for the web. I used this feature all time since I design web banners - and now it's gone! Thanks for nothing, Adobe!

Hi,
This option is available under File > Export > Save For Web (Legacy). If you still don’t find the option or any other issue please let us know.
