Share for Review entire drawing area
It would be great if you could choose to either share for review in Illustrator artboard by artboard (as exists now) or to share the entire pasteboard/drawing area so a reviewer could see all of the artboards at once. View the file exactly as the author sees it, akin to how Figma does it. Sometimes the finished area is helpful for review. Other times, such as early in the design phase when you're really just ideating, sharing the whole mess makes more sense. I currently screenshot the whole thing, but that makes commenting harder.

Create new document using current document settings
I would like to be able to create a new document using the current settings in an open document; artboard measurements, bleed, color swatches, etc.
For example, when I am creating logos I often iterate on multiple artboards until the client is happy with the final output. I would like to then create a new document so that I can copy/paste the final, approved, logo into a new doc so that I have a clean file I can share or link in InDesign documents.

Move artboards with the Selection Tool the same as Photoshop
In Photoshop, artboards can be moved simply by selecting the artboard name above the artboard. The same functionality would be useful in Illustrator, instead of having to select the Artboard Tool.

Make permanent artboard captions displayed on top when using Artboard Tool / mode
In Ai 2026 (build 30) a new option was presented, 'Show Artboard name on canvas', in Preferences > Selection & Anchor Display, enabled by default, following this request:

Turn off artboard names / labels when using Artboard Tool
When using the Artboard tool, the artboard label can interfere with the artboard content. Can there be an option to turn the artboard name off or move it to be above the artboard and not within the boundary?

This would restore the previous behavior with labels being displayed only when Artboard Tool / mode is active, and shown above the artwork.

I would like the Share for Review links to show the file name instead of the random letters and numbers.
I would like the Share for Review links to show the file name instead of the random letters and numbers. When I have 90 documents to share among a dozen reviewers, they get really hard to track.

Active artboard should correspond to the focus of the mouse or object(s) last placed on it.
The active artboard should either be activated by the position of the mouse, or from the placement of the last object. For example, using the mouse, I move an object from one artboard to an adjacent one. Therefore, the active artboard should be the adjacent one since I just placed an object on it. The reason this important for me is when I want to place this object on a new artboard and immediately center it to the page. However unless, I click on this new artboard first to activate it, Illustrator still has the previous artboard as active, and…

Our own custom new document templates
It would be great if we could have our own folder in which to store our customized NEW DOCUMENT TEMPLATES and have it in the row where RECENT, SAVED, MOBILE, WEB, PRINT... are stored.

Recognize Artboard Overlapping
I often run into times where I try to drag an artboard and I might accidentally overlap artboards which then grabs the art on the other artboard. If Illustrator can recognize artboard overlapping and warn the user of it or have a smart option which recoginzes and keeps the art on their respective artboards even if they are overlapping, that would be really nice.

Automatically reset the ruler to zero when clicking on a different artboard
Sorry, this feature request should just be as standard.
If I have 5 artboards and I click on artboard 4, I don't know why the ruler doesn't automatically default to zero. Instead I have to double click the corner of the ruler to reset it to that artboard.
Surely working on separate artboards, require separate ruler zero placements.
This should be the default, with an option to set the ruler to zero on the first artboard, in case each artboard is making up one big picture, then it makes sense for all artboards to share one ruler zero setting.

Make a Display settings of artboards more visible
Hello!
When I'm using a one of this options: Show Center Mark, Show Cross Hairs, Show Video Safe Frame during the projecting time and I want them toggle off/on I have to go to the artboard options and toggle them there. The way for toggle this is too long and I realize this just now when I need to create something and switch this kind of helpers from time to time. Rest of the grids or helpers have own shortcuts or event they are available in Properties panel, but not this one.Is there any chance that dev-team can implement…

Allow legacy behavior for "Rearrange Artboards"
While I'm sure some people welcome Illustrator's new features for rearranging the artboards, I have found it to be finicky and weird. There should be an option that defaults to the center of the work area, like it used to do automatically. This new behavior, of having to select where the artboards go just complicates a once simple process.
91 votesStarting with Beta 29.7.1 the Rearrange dialog got a separate dedicated feature, currently called 'Align Manually'.
With it disabled, artboards get positioned instantly in the center of the canvas, as it behaved previously.
When this is enabled, you will enter the positioning mode after pressing OK — to allow rearranging only some artboards, to address this request.
With more than 1 artboard selected (but not all), the mode gets enabled automatically (and becomes locked).

Rotate Artboards
Enable artboards to be rotated individually. Simple. Here's an example of my currently workflow: if I have a large map with a winding road in illustrator, and I want each of my 5 artboards to be aligned with that road, I have to make rectangles where I wish the artboards could be, and then make the actual artboards encompass the rectangle. Then I export as an image, and rotate and crop in Photoshop to match the rectangle. Artboard Properties as Menu Commands
Add "Maintain Width and Height Proportions" to Menu Commands so that it can be assigned a shortcut. Other artboard features like "Move artwork with Artboard" and "Scale artwork with Artboard" would also benefit from this, I lose a lot of time checking and unchecking these boxes.

When using Artboard Tool (Shift+O) to create an artboard around a selected object, an option to add some extra space around the selection would be really handy
