Illustrator needs a layer composition panel like in photoshop
I'm still waiting for a feature which photoshop has for years: layer compositions. It would be so helpfull to save the visibility of layers.
The feature "save view" is not a solution because you only can save the top levels.
For example you are working on a map with hundreds of layers. For special maps you have to activate special layers and deactivate others. You have to do it for hundreds of layers manually. And if you forget to activate onlay one you’ll get a call from your client two weeks later asking you why the printed map has no street names. Or why all the restaurant icons are gone. It's a nightmare.
So please help me saving time and money.

In fact, i would say, if layer composition make sense in Ps it SHOULD also works in Ai

I agree, it could also help when placing an Ai doc in Ps or InDD and active one composition or another to show different version of one single document.

Amen. I would use compositions to capture the contents of frames in a sequence. Without compositions, after I change something, I have to go through the tedious and error prone process for each frame of showing/hiding layers before copying and pasting the frame into my Word document.

I completely agree,
In addition, this layer composition could be used in the export dialog box as option. You may use some layers for working and want to export only some layers for generate usable pictures/illustration.
It should also be key to have them in CC browser so when you share illustration for reviewing, people can active one composition or another...
So please, make this feature coming asap
