SEARCH FUNCTION
URGENTLY NEEDED.... we need a search function for the layers menu - not a location object, but a real "search layers for name" function.
I have a client project with 584 layers, each with a unique name, and each containing stuff. Scrolling thru the layers menu to find a specific layer name is annoying!!!
Even (******) CorelDraw offers a search layers function - so obviously the GODLY software Illustrator NEEEEEEEDS this. Come on, this should have been included since 2010.
Just my opinion,

Uh yeah, I can't believe there is no way to do this already... I have a ton of layers that I spent a reasonable amount of time putting a nice naming convention into, but there is a point where this breaks down and finding things by searching would be much easier. Many modern apps allow this, and yet I find myself here looking for it for Illustrator.

I definitely agree with you. All Adobe products need an advanced, but also user friendly search feature. There are two search options available in Ai, but none of them really stand of good stead.

It would be nice to have a search function for other panels as well. Such as Symbol panel, Graphic Styles, Brushes, Swatches, ETC. Especially when it comes to large preset libraries!

Crazy this isn't an option. Needs to be a live fuzzy search for showing layers after only partially typing the layer name.
