Find / Replace font... to include adjusting font and text size
I would like to see a capability added to the find/replace font... feature to include finding and replacing text sizes throughout a document. I make a lot of repetitive text throughout many artboards and sometimes I have to adjust the text size of a particular font. In addition I sometimes have mixed fonts in a textbox and have to adjust the size of one or a few of them separately without changing the size of the other fonts. That would be a super time-saving feature too.

Please add auto optical size for variable fonts with opsz axes similar to Adobe InDesign automapping:

Don’t drop the current character selection in text when I switch between documents
If you select a portion of a text in Illustrator and switch to a different app and back — the selection stays in place.
But if I switch between Illustrator documents/tabs — the selection gets lost. This makes editing of two or more documents at the same time very inconvenient, effectively loosing my data about the selection made.8 votes -
select and change stoke Color in text
I have text templates that require changing the fill and stroke colors. I have to select the text, go to Appearance, choose Type, and change the color. The issue is that there are several texts with different combinations throughout the day.
It would be great if I could set the three text colors as shown in the image, select one, then use an action that allows me to choose the text color, either fill or stroke, and change it to another from my swatch.

Filtering font selection by source / vendor
(This is a feature request for Ai, Ps, Id etc. as well)
Filtering from source such as Fontbook, Monotype, Adobe Fonts, Google Fonts etc.
I've noticed its common to only be allowed to use fonts from specific sources with some clients. It's been a headache to have to go into another app and cross reference which fonts are from what source. For example, a client I'm contracted full time under I can only use Monotype due to their commercial subscription status.
Or even to be able to create our own folders / font collections to view those only.

Allow to set the stroke below the fill in appearance panel for text characters
When I try to move the "stroke" row in appearance panel to move below the "fill" row, the row returns to previous position on top.
This is happening to me since the - I think - 11 version of Illustrator.
Now I have version 27.1.1 and windows 11 pro. Nothing changed.3 votes -

Make the type on a path tool smarter
I would like an option to make a text follow a path in a more smooth way. For example, look at the PSG logo where you see how the A and R follow the circular shape, without distorting the shape of the letter.

Apply Template to file
I would like the ability to "apply template" to a graphic file so that styles with the same name from one template would update to a graphic with styles that have been updated to different parameters.
Example:
I work on proposals and the font/character/graphic styles vary from project to project based on RFP requirements for submission (each State has different requirements you must adhere to). We have many "boilerplate" graphics that are reused, but the fonts and, sometimes, the colors must be changed to meet requirements.

Allow formatting of bullets & numbers in lists
Bullets and numbers currently inherit the formatting of the first character in the list item. This is not very flexbile and creates issues when in one list there are bold items and regular items.
There should be an option to add formating to the bullet as well as the numbers. Also: there should be an option to use any kind of character of a dingbats font as a bullet. Bonus would be if any kind of shape could be used.40 votes -
Area Type "Inset Spacing" option to set different values for top, bottom, left and right
エリア内文字の「外枠からの間隔」に天地左右で異なる値を設定できるようにして欲しいです。
InDesignの「フレーム内マージン」ではできるので、Illustratorでも可能になればもっと便利です。また、日本のユーザーはエリア内文字で表を作成することがあります。「外枠からの間隔」に異なる値が設定できれば、表の作成時にも調整しやすくなります。

I would like to set different values for the top, bottom, left and right in the "Inset Spacing" option of Area Type.
It's possible in InDesign; it would be more convenient if it could be in Illustrator.
Additionally, Japanese users often use Area Type to create tables. Different Inset Spacing makes it more adjustable.

Arabic language management in the Spanish version of Illustrator
I don't want to install the Arabic version of Illustrator, I want to include the manage options for that language in my current Spanish version. I work creating designs in several languages and it's impossible to type in Arabic. The text is written changing the order of the characters, changing the meaning of the sentences. Even when I try to mix Arabic words with Spanish or English, the text ends up messed because of the lack of RTL option.

Illustrator desktop windows版でのツール切替えのショートカット
MacOSと同じように、WindowsのIllustratorでも、日本語入力状態でツール切替えのショートカット（vで選択ツール・sで拡大ツール・rで回転ツールなど）が使えるようにしてほしいです。あるとないとでは、便利さが段違いですから。

Montserrat Semibold has problems syncing
The Montserrat font is experiencing synchronization issues, even though it is installed in Creative Cloud. It disconnects every time, while the other fonts remain normal. Please check the bug.
In the screenshot I am sending, you can notice that the Montserrat Semibold font is not appearing.

Select Same Text Contents
Please make a way to select text object with the same contents.
Would be very useful for many practical cases.
Sure with have Find and Replace, but it won’t allow us to SELECT these text objects,, which we can use for styling, hiding, moving, rearranging, and more.11 votesThe latest Beta version (27.7) has the ability to filter contents of the Layers panel with an input field at the top of the panel. It does not directly select the objects that have the chosen value in their names (this includes the text contents), but allows to select them faster in the panel.

No longer can copy, the copy in a text box and paste it outside of illustrator I would like to see this fixed.
No longer can copy, the copy in a text box and paste it outside of illustrator I would like to see this fixed. Should be able to copy and paste it to any file if it is text and paste it elsewhere. It currently brings it over like an image

Make it easier to find the handles needed to move text around a circular shape.
It's so tough to find just the right place to hover in order to get the handle you need to drag the start/end points of text when placing it on a path, especially a round one. Seems like there's an easier way (maybe holding down a particular key while you click the anchor?)

Prevent Conversion of Outlined Text to Editable Text
The Retype convert to live type feature makes it too easy for clients, vendors, and 3rd parties to convert uneditable work into editable work. It's a nice tool for your own work, but it is potentially bad for business.
Please add permissions features that allow us to control whether or not our files (PDF/AI) can be manipulated in this way by others or reconsider rolling out the Retype conversion feature.
Please DO NOT roll out the Retype convert outline to live type feature unless this protection is added to illustrator.
I realize there are probably a bunch of ways around…

it will be easier if we can make something like this in illustrator, especially for keyboards that don't have a number pad

A favorite fonts floating palette
While I’m designing let’s say a poster, I an using 4 fonts,, would like to be able to access those 4 fonts anytime, instead of going to fonts, or characters , having a floating pallet so I can see the fonts and seek them immediately.
Just like when you pull a pallets out from the tools pallet.3 votes
