  1. Don't remove stroke and fill for clipping paths

Please allow paths to retain formatting when they are made into clipping paths. I see no reason, other than cruelty, to remove the stroke and fill of a path when it is made into a clipping path. If someone can rationalize a benefit for making me have to apply a stroke and fill all over again then at least make a preference for any masochists.

  2. Allow snapping to objects that are masked out and also make opacity mask objects visible in outline mode

For example, if you draw a large box and place it completely inside a small box so that all four corners of the larger box are masked out, then try to drag a guide it will only snap to the smaller clipping mask, the guides wont snap to the larger box unless you hide or release the clipping mask. Also, as an additional feature I think it would be of benefit if when inside the opacity mask, when you go to outline mode you could then see the objects within the mask.

  3. Feature to remove white background seamlessly

I think this should be a basic option, to remove white bg seamlessly. or any colored background. There are lot of basic apps that does that, why a sophisticated software like this doesnt have that option?

  4. Ability to create Layer masks in Ai that can be used in Ae

I would like to have the ability to create masks in Illustrator that carry over to Ae. It would make the process much faster and more streamlines to build it all in illustrator before I transfer over to Ae for animation.

  5. Layer clipping mask (a bit like a paste-inside on steroids!)

I'd like to be able to convert a shape into a layer clipping mask which would then allow sub-layers to be created/converted so that they only remain visible within in the shape's boundary and would subsequently honour any sub-layer effects applied therein.

    Why?

Well at the moment I have to expand any paths with effects applied to layers so that any effect is captured inside the clipping mask. This results in a destructive edit to my artwork and file duplication so that I can revert to the previous editable state when I need to make any changes.

    Background:
    I regularly…

  6. Masks should be applied to single objects with a simple right click

Masks should be applied to single objects with a simple right click. It's so cumbersome (and quite frankly, very outdated principle) to have to create a white object, select two objects, then 'create mask'. No one does this anymore. (look at Sketch)

We should be able to simply right click on an object and set it as a mask. Then anything that is above that mask or in that mask's group layer, should be masked out.

Which brings me to another point, layers in illustrator are so bad. Why for the love, has the layer structure not been updated since…

  7. Hide contents outside of a clipping mask from the selection tool

Contents outside of a mask boundaries are still visible from the selection tool, so i's often tricky to select other objects behind. It would be great to have an option to just see the boundary of the mask with the selection tool.

  8. Pathfinder and clipped objects/draw inside

Right now, when trying to combine via Pathfinder, an object with a draw inside function/clipping mask, with another object - it basically release the clipping masks and combines everything.

When trying to make an outline for characters with a lot of details, it becomes very frustrating.

    Attached is a simple example

  9. Clipping Mask with complex objects

I'm trying to clipping mask an object not that complicated (1000 points) and Illustrator says it's to complex (really?). But if I do a "paste inside" with Indesign, Illustrator allows the Clipping Mask.

It's crazy since Illustrator should be the right software to work with multiple points vector.

  10. Expanding Compound Clip Mask into induvidul paths for production

I want to produce individual paths to a set artboard size for production after designing a compound clip mask. sample below. There are to many steps involved in individualizing these paths. First you need to group everything with in the clip path then save in place. Then release the clip mask path then the compound path. Next you need to copy a paste into each individual path.
In Corel draw, after designing in the clip mask all you do is release that mask and it is automatically in each individual path after release.. Help me Ai best perform this task,…

  11. Masking objects or their parts - simple and fast.

Masking with "Make clipping mask" is often practical and fast. Great! Thank you.
I am asking you to modernize this method of creating a mask:

    1. new option: Invert Mask
    2. When I want to mask a part of an object quickly, but in only within the shape of my mask. For example, a hole in the facility.

    3. new option: Add or create an "Opacity Mask" from the object above.

    4. Such a practical shortcut to create a mask of the "Opacity Mask (alpha canal)" type from a selected object, eg with a griadient. Now, creating an Opacity mask is overly complicated.

    5. Separate…

  12. Allow selecting a clipping mask by its fill

Currently, I need to select clipping masks by their edge, which is tricky. I prefer selecting objects by their fill.
