Offset Path - Interactive Tool
Would love to have a tool for interactively creating offset paths.
Use: Select the tool, click-drag on a path to interactively create an offset version of it
Tool options could include: [distance], [copies], [join on/off] for open paths, [join type] etc.

Offset Path - allow creation of non-joined segments
Would save a lot of time if Offset Path could create paths with or without joining them.
As it is now there are times when it's useful to have auto-joins and many times that it's not. Personally I end up spending a bunch of time deleting the joining path segments as I rarely use them in my workflow.
A simple solution would be to add an on/off toggle for [Join] right above the join type combo.
As well, per other requests, please can the panel remember the last-used settings for [Preview] on/off?
Thanks!

Position elements relative to artboards.
Since several improvements to artboards are in the pipeline, I think It would be worth considering positioning elements relative to the top left corner of the artboard. I haven't found a good use for keyboard entry of x and y positions. Positioning elements relatively would make it relatively easy to maintain padding / grids across multiple artboards by entering an exact value.
5 votesTo allow the artboard-relative positioning, you should switch rulers from global with View > Rulers > Change to Artboard Rulers command (or from the context menu for the zero point of the rulers on canvas).

dashed line gap size
please allow the gap size to be completely variable. right now max gap is 13.88". This feature would be useful for putting grommet marks on banners, normally 24" spacing but can be many different spacings ( but not on the same banner). Thanks Bob

Ability to create an action for Recolor
It would be nice to be able to create a set preset to limit a certain library for recoloring and then be able to create an action for that present library.

Easier (or any) control over objects in layers
When in a layer I create an object, I need to be able to access it easily and control its order in the layer window. so my suggestion is:
right click also allows selecting an object - like in photoshop
A function that allows me to choose 2 objects and arrange their order - right now we need to press move back until you get to the correct order, it's very frustrating2 votes -
select same by stroke weight/stroke color within a graph (CC2018)
In CC2017 with a direct selection arrow, you could select by stroke weight or color, within a graph. After the CC2018 update you can no longer use the Select by options within a graph. Please bring back that feature.

When it will be fixed question.
Dear Developers of Illustrator CC and Management team, i have seen the list of all of your pretty names in about illustrator section and can now play "How many Kumars worked on the latest version" game. It may be different in your culture and menthality, like you have more patience, tolerance, you think strategically and working on the long term goals or such. But why do you think that a half cooked curry should taste as good as propery cooked? Why for the heavens sake do we have to spend more time working as your Quality Assurance, and have a "when it will be fixed" experience instead of concentrationg on our daily creative tasks? How did you manage to bring a rock-solid design tool into the current state? Features are good, but it has to be a reliable and consistent software in the first place. Not a half baked curry stew with a pupped wrap on top. Make a stable version. Test it. Test it again. Then test it even more. Add don't dare releasing it before it works at least as good as Illustrators 7-CS6 to not bring shame on the people who have created the Illustrator. Thank you.

Faux Italics
It would save time & Photoshop, InDesign, and rich text editors can skew a regular font that does not have an italic weight.

Find Font window panel - expandable/resizable and searchable
Please simply allow the Find Font window panel to be expandable/resizable. Difficult to tell between the different weights on long font names such as:
Helvetica Neue LT Extended Heavy
vs
Helvetica Neue LT Extended BlackThe panel needs more horizontal space or even a tooltip to pop-out the full font name.

Tracing with machine learning, Sensei, or something similar
My question is: Is there is any program or chance that the illustrator trace will use less points and be more accurate?
I love using the illustrator and I love tracing pictures with hand, but sometimes I just don't have the time or the energy to do it manually and the available trace solution is just not 10/10 for die cut lines and sometimes logo recreations (when the customer can send only a 100x100 pixel file, because of reasons).
If there was a chance you made something that would check, analyse, and learn from my (and other volunteers') manual tracings for the pictures used, i would LOVE to be a contributor. The point is to use less points, more accurate curves and don't know what else should be more refined. Maybe the colours?
So please Illustrator team buy strong machines that could learn this by analysing hand tracing!
(Don't know how these work. Maybe send out 50 BW pictures and 50 coloured ones to the participants and gather the info?)Thank you for your attention! And sorry if I misspelled anything. English is not my native language.

Allow me to return to the interface that I've become accustomed to.
I absolutely hate updating Adobe Illustrator. This new Illustrator interface update is infuriating. The workflow that I've developed over years of working with this product is broken. I don't understand how anything works and I spend more energy wrestling with an interface that a just a short while ago was transparent to me than I do in the actual creative work that I am paid for. I'm sure you're proud of your work. I'm sure that you've tested it with naive users (I hope!) maybe even some seasoned users. But recognize that every time you make radical changes to the layout you're hanging a significant portion of your dedicated user base out to dry. Disruptions in my workflow like this make it more reasonable to spend time learning tools like Axure and Sketch that are more powerful, but that I normally keep in the background because I'm quicker with Illustrator. When you take that away you open the door to reevaluation.

Consistent and/or customizable number of decimals places for values
v 22.0.1
Most of the Features in Illustrator have inconsistent number of decimal places.
New document size — 3 decimal places, 0.001
Artboard size — 2 decimal places, 0.01
Artboard position x,y (in the same window) — 1 decimal place, 0.1
creating new rectangle — 4 decimal places, 0.0001
Object transformation — 3 decimal places, 0.001
Rectangle angle — 2 decimal places, 0.01
Rounding corners — 3 decimal places, 0.001
Split into grid — 2 decimal places, 0.01Offset path — 4 decimal places, 0.0001
3d revolve angle — 0 decimal places
3d Extrude & Bevel angles — 2 decimal places, 0.01
3d Extrude & Bevel — extrude depth — 2 bevel height — 0 decimal places
3d Rotation everything — 2 decimal places, 0.01
drop shadow dialogue — 2 decimal places, 0.01
Move dialog — 4 decimal places, 0.0001
Pattern — 4 decimal places, 0.0001
Blend — 2 decimal places, 0.01Let's look at the example user journey:
In my workflow I am building an illustration of isometric sport games layouts.
As Illustrator has an working area size limitation i am forced to keep the illustration in certain scale. and for smaller objects I have to create bigger versions of 3D elements, then through symbols/CC library scale them down. Otherwise the limitation in number of decimal places of the 3D effects doesn't allow me to keep the proper object shapes. The number of decimal places in Transform tool is 3 (minimum 0.001)
The extrude Depth field has a soft cap for 2 decimal places and minimum value of 0.01 pt
The Bevel Height for some unclear reason is limited to zero decimal places — 1 pt
Both have to be 3 decimal places a minimum value of at least 0.01 pt

Create design oriented PDF forms
It would be very helpful to have an option of creating PDF forms in Illustrator.
Creating forms in Acrobat PRO is very clunky for anyone who needs more design oriented features. It would allow graphic designers to create editable PDF templates for products such as cards, invitations etc. Such templates are in a high demand, people want to purchase files that can be edited with ease and there are no good options for creating them.Such feature would also be very helpful in InDesign for catalogs, brochures, anything with multiple pages.

Slices
I have created a logo and it saves in slices, and at one point in it's own folder, which I didn't ask it to do, I don't want that. Also the Illustrator program is to big, it falls off the screen at times and Photoshop is to small, I need a magnifying glass can they both be fixed so they can fit properly on the screen. Also now and then all the colors in swatch window disappears.

Artboard spacing only feature
I often have my artboards grouped very specifically and they do not have an even number of artboards in each row. When I need to rearrange the space between all my artboards that becomes a huge hassle.
I'm forced to choose a column number, which alters my arrangement of columns/rows.
The ability to turn off the "column" preference and only alter the artboard "spacing" would be very helpful.4 votes -
