Implement quick filter by object name in Illustrator Layers panel On large documents designers very often give names to objects in document structure for improve navigation in structure. But now there are no way to quickly find object by name in document, except custom scripts.
For solve this problem please implement quick filter input field in Layers panel interface, for quickly search objects by part of his name (like filter in Fonts list).
Even if designer don't add names, via this filter we will can quick find all curves, all rectangles, all circles, all curves, all guides, etc, so it will be very useful.

Filter Options for Layers Palate Allow filtering in the layers palate e.g. Type a word to show all layers/objects who's name contains that word, alternatively all text frames which have the selected word in their content. Show only objects who have a fill colour of P495 etc. This would make it much easier to navigate and edit complex documents

Drop shadows and blurs!! The ability to use Gaussian blur or motion blur for highlights and drop shadows would be magnificent. I currently have to use Procreate and then attempt vectorizing the rasterized image and it’s not looking how I want it to look. I’m still learning the iPad illustrator app and it’s coming along. Keep up the good work!! Also, the ability to Sheer a shape for perspective uses. Affinity designer has this ability in the transform area.

Ability to change layer visibility of linked artwork It would be great if we could turn on/off the layers of linked artwork. At least linked AI files - but PSD would be great too.

Smart Dimensions Been using adobe illustrator for decades now and there is one feature that has never been implemented that every other software has and adobe still does not. Smart dimensions, I'm sure every artist that has ever used illustrator for production purposes would like this feature added. Corel has it, all CAD applications have it, Illustrator is pretty much the only vector based design software that has not implemented this yet and I would love to see this added. There are plugins for illustrator to do this but they are extremely expensive, so if a 3rd party can implement this I'm not sure why Adobe cant. Hotdoors Cadtools is a perfect example of the feature set I think any production artist would love to see built in to illustrator and would be an absolute game changer for anyone in the signage or large format printing industry.

Turn off annoying "Catch up with what's new in illustrator" popup EVERY time I load Illustrator, the stupid, pointless, broken "Catch up with what's new in illustrator" popup appears. I have the options of:
'Remind Later' which means this thing will appear the next time I load the app
or
'OK' which opens the 'Learn' panel, which contains...nothing.
So both options are equally ****. Which is exactly what we'd expect from this dreadful application that people only use because it's the "industry standard" since Adobe illegally killed off FreeHand many years ago. When will Affinity Designer become the industry standard? Very soon, I hope.2 votes -
Set exact dimensions to one object in a group that affects the entire group. Example: I have 3 squares. 2 large ones and one small one overlapping the two. (see picture)
The task is to set the small red square to exactly 140 x 140 mm without losing the proportions in size or position to the blue or green box.
I want an exact scale up where the end result is that the red square is 140 mm x 140 mm.
I can use rulers, but the small square doesn't snap since it isn't touching the bounding box. Using this I can eyeball it and get a result like 140.062 x 140.062 mm. I need it to be 140 x 140 mm flat. And this method takes time, dragging the size back and forth since the middle square isn’t centered.
Same issue if I were to draw a 140 x 140 mm square and try to match the red one to it. It will snap in one corner of the drawn 140 x 140 mm square guide, but move away from that corner when scaled.
In this example I can of course calculate the increase to 140% and scale accordingly. Works great for this simple example, but it is much more tedious when I want to scale a text for instance or objects with uneven numbers, where I need a stack height to be e.g. 100 mm tall. Here the text often is something like 14.532 mm to start and I have to calculate 100/14.532 = scale up of 688,1365%. Just takes a lot of time.
And for items that needs scaling in two directions I need to make two separate calculations (if I wanted the new dimensions of the square to be e.g 140 x 190 mm)
What I propose is a tool/possibility to use the same technique as when aligning object, combined with the properties tab.
1. I select all 3 objects using shift or simply dragging the selection box over
them.
2. I then click the red box again without holding shift, making it an indicated selection (like when aligning objects)
3. I open up the properties tab. Either the W x H is then changed to show the dimensions of the red box, or a new input area opens up so both the entire groups outer dimensions is shown as well as the dimensions of the red square.
4. I proceed to enter my desired values in the input boxes, setting the new dimensions for the red square
5. The program scales the entire group according to the new set dimensions of the red square.Example: I have 3 squares. 2 large ones and one small one overlapping the two. (see picture)

improve Blob Brush Hi, I use very often the Blob Brush tool, I think it could be a real plus to make more with it. First, to add constraint between 2 points of click . Two, make more steps between precise and rounded in the option panel. and Three make the same thing for the eraser too, because it seems to be the same as the blob brush but in negative. Is it technically possible?

Refreshing new idea for Snap to Pixel Please implement a feature called, "Never ever (literally EVER) allow Snap to Pixel to be turned on." I think it's a setting that would prove useful for people like me that spend ages working on a document only to then wonder why absolutely NOTHING is properly aligned.

Merci 🙏

Effects ( fx ) drag and drop Just like in Abode Indesign, when you apply an effect to type or object all you have to do is drag & drop the "fx" icon in the appearance bar to the type or object you wish to apply that effect to.
Adding this same feature will increase productivity when adding multiple effects and create a more cohesive work from program to program.

Animated/Scrubby Zoom in Outline Mode Illustrator should have the option to use Animated/Scrubby Zoom in Outline Mode to improve workflow and not have to switch to the inferior zoom to selection tool.

Make Preferences User Friendly These are various recommendation to simplify preferences in all Adobe Applications.
• list groupings (ie General, Type, etc.) in alphabetical order
• or list groupings in logical orderexample for the first three - General, User Interface, Performance...
• re-review all preference settings and reduce or simplify (Slices has two option?)
• incorporate a search function to provide the user the ability to quickly locate a specific preference (refer to Apple's System Preferences Search capability.)
• make preference category lists universal in title and order for all Adobe applications when possibleThe reason is, I wish to work and not have to take time to find preferences. Additionally, I have to reset preferences each time a major update is installed.
Thank you.

Better options to layout and save button mode in actions Allow editing of multiple actions at once: eg shift select a group of actions, go to action settings and set the colour for all. Allow separators in button mode.
This would help me as I have a large number of actions, grouped by the type of illustration I am working on. I usually work in button mode, so segregating by colour allows my to identify actions quickly. If I have to reset my preferences, or reload group actions, it can take nearly an hour to set this up.2 votes -
Make the Templates folder write enabled Can't save Template, due to permissions of the folder.
Please make that work by default (MacOS Catalina).1 vote -
Allow font size, leading to be blank in paragraph & character styles (as in InDesign). In InDesign, you can leave the font size of a paragraph or character style blank, allowing you to apply a style while preserving the font size that's already set (critical for different sized documents). In Illustrator, while you can create a style with a blank size, it automatically reverts to 12pt.

Illustrator: new grid repeat options needs more definitions The new repeat feature is great, I've been wanting this for a long time. However, I think the Grid Repeat options need additional definitions.
Right now it allows you to define the space between the artwork as the only definition. It should allow us to choose relative space and absolute space.
More specifically, it should allow us to define the actual repeat size.
ie: every 6 inches, repeat the motif.
This is the standard method in most industries that frequently require pattern repeats (garment, upholstery, wall coverings etc).
