Calligraphic Brush, Blob Brush appearance anomalies at small brush sizes (1 pt and above)
Illustrator 22.1, though this is extant in all versions I'm familiar with (since at least CS5).
When drawing with a calligraphic brush (and thus also with the blob brush) at small sizes, certain tight curves result in anomalous shapes extending out from the expected area covered by the brush. The screenshot attached is around 15mm across. AI file also attached. Expected result is that the brushed area corresponds to the shape of the calligraphic brush along the whole length of the path.
This is obviously not fixed, so the previous status is removed.

In my illustration workflow this is a big issue. Makes illustrating fine details (e.g. hands, ears) very frustrating at times. For me this comes up often when using thin calligraphic brushes.
@admin – re: workflow, this happens using *any* brush that has a stroke beyond the basic brush with no stroke/no effects/no pressure variation. Happy to set up a screenshare with your techs at any time (or heck, come to SF to meet with y'all!) I'm sure plenty of the users who've commented would be willing to do screenshares or post screenshots as well, if it would mean getting this fixed asap.
once more who struggled with this bug for years. It seem to me that is something wrong in precision in computing line appearance. Better approximation of visual appearance of path can be achieved with adding extra points:
1. thru OBJECT->PATH->ADD ANCHOR POINTS (multiple times) or
2. with reversible effect EFFECT->DISTORT&TRANSFORM->ROUGHEN with settings: Size 0% and Detail 100 (similar to previous - basically add controlled number of points between existing)
…also the unuseable wacom 6D brushes with the edgy curves… so bad!
This has been going on for years. I can't believe they have not fixed this yet.

i have the same issue
We need many more people to vote on this fix for Adobe to take it into consideration for the next release.
If you know anyone else dealing with this, please send them to this page. I've been dealing with this issue for years now and as with the rest of you, it gets in the way of my productivity.

Definitely a problem.
If Simplifying Path doesn't do the trick for you, you can use the scissor tool (C) and make a cut on the anomaly. It will fix it, but in return give two paths.
I can't believe this hasn't been solved. It's a pain! i didn't have this problem until about 2 updates ago
Also having this issue, making it very hard to use illustrator

This bug is with Illustrator since it's first versions, I really hate it, please fix this!!!
Oh my god yes please fix this!! Happens constantly with Blob brush, I spend 20% of my time fixing these nasty areas
Huge issue, makes the brush tool almost impossible to use for precise artwork

Adobe, please fix this problem!!
This happens at all sizes, not just small sizes - that's right! I've contacted with tech support and they know about this problem. They say it will fix it, but I don't believe it. I'm wasting time on their 3-hour remote sessions, but they can't fix my main work tool.
