Please allow hiding the "shape properties" from transform panel.
This area wastes half the panel.
I will never use "shapes" - why is this bit of panel always showing?

Automatically restore Type Character panel settings
When entering text, sometimes we modify settings in the Character panel.
For example, to type CO2 (carbon dioxide) correctly, we select the '2' and enable "Subscript" on it.
What is very annoying is that this custom setting ("Subscript" in above example) remains enabled the next time we enter some completely different text elsewhere and we always have to go back and first fix the setting in the Character panel.Feature suggestion:
Changes made to the "Character panel" should automatically reset to "default" once the text block editing is completed (or before starting editing some new text elsewhere).2 votes -
The "Select Same" function including points as a choice
As of now, the Select menu includes "Same" and "Object". With a point not being an object, it would be under the "Same" submenu where it only has the option of selecting shapes and/or texts under certain conditions.
If in need to select multiple points, we could use the Direct Selection tool to select each of the points, but similar to shapes and texts, it would be helpful to have a one-click solution to select the points.
Some conditions to include (similar to "Select >> Same >> Fill Color") could be:

Top toolbar should display true length and width of shapes, not the "properties" of the shape.
It's very confusing when you reference the top toolbar to see the length and width of a shape only to realize the values are completely wrong. This is because the top toolbar displays the "properties" of a shape for whatever reason. The length of an object should always be the longest horizontal measurement, and the height should always be the longest vertical measurement, regardless of rotation. Despite not displaying true length and width, the toolbar uses symbols which clearly indicate length and width: a double ended horizontal arrow first, then a double ended vertical arrow second. extend the grid interval from 377.7 mm to 1000 mm (or more who cares if it 100,000,000 with 1000 subdivisions?)
to make it easier to use real world dimensions when drawing large artwork in AI I have a document that is a few metres wide and a few metres high.
I want the major grid lines at 1000 mm interval (its a 1 to 1 technical drawing) and subdivisions of 10, so minor grid lines at 100 mm intervals.
I can't, AI has a max grid interval of 377.777777.
Doesn't make sense to limit it in this way. Grid intervals in AutoCAD etc are whatever you want them to be at all.

Labels on cylinders scaling fails
When Labels on cylinders are scaled beyond a certain size (relative to object size?), their distortion is wrong
See attached file and video. The original size of that label is smaller, I have scaled it on the object and it just gets dirtorted at the far edges as soon as it gets too large.

3D rendering issues with labels
When applying a label to a cylinder, the rendering is not clean. There are artifacts generated in the nothingness. See the artifacts in the attached file. This also doesn't get soled when rotating the object.

save error - better message
I occasionally see an error message that some document could not be saved, and a link to read about "alternate ways of saving"
Wouldn't it be great to show the actual OS error (in readable text, if possible, or a link to Microsoft or Macos error codes if not) in the message

The shapebuilder tool doesn't pick up the correct color
When picking color from artwork the shapebuilder should apply the color of the object you first click on. That doesn't work in complex stacking orders and with compound paths.

Simulate "Crown-Shyness"
Crown-shyness is a phenomenon in which the crowns of trees do not touch each other, forming a canopy with channel-like gaps.
The idea for the effect is that when multiple objects are overlapped, the effect will deform the objects so a gap is created (with a user-defined width). Alternatively, when a group of objects near to one another are bloated, or the path is offset (to a positive degree), the objects will not overlap but instead leave a gap.

Window of "Save for web" > could you first load a small image?
Window of "Save for web" >could you first load a small image (like 1000 X 1000) and then allow US to make it bigger if necessary? Load time is so long. It can take up to 2 minutes (with a good 2021 computer), if the software doesn't crash.

Share for Review link name
I can see that name of my link, when preparing to share to client, but then I copy the link, ant it's name is really not with that name, that my document is, or I written in link name field. The link appears ugly and long.
It would be better to send the link to client with short name, that don't look like unsecured link

Add separation preview toggle to Share for Review
When SHARE FOR REVIEW with a stake holder
Since it is basically a PDF, it would be nice if there was a way to toggle of the separations, especially if it is a spot color only set up and separations are important? or process and a spot color? Is this possible2 votes -
Rotating objects difficult with 5K monitor
On smallish objects, I have to zoom in way too far before the rotate handles show up on an object. It was annoying on the 4k monitor. On the 5k monitor it is more than annoying – it's a disruption. (200% zoom on and 1920px artboard) for a 10px object.

Control panel like that of Indesign
I've always liked Indesign, especially its control panel top bar.
I was wondering but is it not possible to have a control bar in Illustrator like the one in Indesign?

- By inserting quick links to many features that Illustrator makes available to us but every time you have to go and get them from the menus / submenus and you never remember where to go.

Font unit change Adobe Illustrator
Unfortunately, you have to laboriously change the font unit from e.g. pt to mm and vice versa in the presets.
A switch in the character panel would be desirable.
You can also change the letter height there. Here, however, the mm specification is required in most cases.
However, we use this function to quickly check the font height in mm.

Would LOVE a "preference" option to choose whether your new layers/artboards appear above the existing layers/artboards or below them.

Type in stroke width value instead of pull down menu in Character styles
In Character Styles the stroke width only provides a pull down menu to choose from. It would be better if we could type in an exact value.
The stroke width of texts needs to be very precise in my work, but the pull down menu is too limited to provide an accurate enough value. (The gaps between available options in the menu are too big.)When I create a new character style by selecting text and adding a new style, the style contains the correct stroke width.
