Unable to uncheck Type Pref Indic options & Fill object with placeholder text on preference migration from 22.1
- MacOS Sierra ; Illustrator CC 23.0.1
- I'm trying to get the punctuation right while typing in Hindi, but I can't select "Indic Options". I went to Preferences>Type>Language Options. I can select "Show East Asian Options" but i can't seem to select "Show Indic Options" which is a bug.
- I expected to type correctly in Hindi
- I can't type in Hindi with the right punctuation and I'm on a strict deadline! Help
I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 23.0.6 which is available worldwide now.
Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.
You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html
Thank you for all the feedback. Keep it coming!
I REALLY need this fixed!!!
This has been an issue for years. They don't give a ****.
Agreed! Please, please fix. It's a nice feature if you want it, but super frustrating when you can't turn it off.
I have to add that in Arabic character direction is not appearing even if indic options is selected. (RTL - LTR)

This is awful! I didn't know that so many people are suffering because of the same. @Illustrator staff, please check, report and do the needful!
Hi ! Same here, can't click on this option on "preference", even if East-Asian is unchecked.
I this a bug ? If yes, it's a serious one.

It doesn't seem like the "Auto Size New Area Type" does anything. It seems to always use auto-sizing on either way.
Furthermore "Fill New Type Objects With Placeholder Text" and "Show Character Alternates" is not clickable, at all. If you go to a different section, e.g. "Units", then back to "Type", those two last options will disappear. See video attached.

Same for me as well. It's ridiculous that I have to change that preference EVERY TIME I OPEN ILLUSTRATOR. PLEASE FIX THIS!!
After last update it still doesn't work. Cannot deactivate options: Fill New Type Objects With Placeholder text and Show Character Alternates in preferences.

The same problem here.
Two options in Type section are non-clickable.
There is a bug in preferences window. Switching between sections and then returning to Type section makes two bottom lines dissappear (Fill New Type Objects With Placeholder text and Show Character Alternates)
We used to be able to uncheck this box in preferences but this is no longer possible - 2019 update - v23.0 64-bit, Windows 10
