1. Object appearance defaults when selecting new colors (white fill, black stroke)

   When selecting a new color swatch value from the menu (see image) often times when the document has first been opened or an object has not been selected during this session, any selected objects revert to the default appearance - 1 pt outline, black stroke, white fill - regardless of what they were before. Then you have to undo what happened and try again to apply your changes. It's a minor inconvenience, but it only showed up in the last 3 updates. A clean install doesn't fix this issue. This can happen just a single time, or multiple times with a file.

2. Swatches disappear in Swatches panel when switching between documents

   I've got two documents open. An RGB one, and a CMYK one. When I CMD+TAB between the two, all the current swatches disappear. I have to click on a different 'view swatches' button to make them appear. This happens EVERY TIME. I just updated to the latest version of Illustrator thinking it would fix it, but it doesn't.

3. Pattern Scale Not Working

   My pattern scale has stopped working recently for user created patterns (it works ok on the default patterns). Previously I could create a pattern but dragging into the swatch menu, and then when I dragged the corners, the scale of the pattern would adjust along with the size of my shape. Now it does not.

   I have checked that "Transform Both (object and pattern)" is selected from the Transform Panel dropdown, along with Settings > General > Transform Pattern Tiles is also checked on.

   This has been going on since late July 2025 - I've tried every troubleshooting method I can think of along with suggestions I've seen posted. This morning I reset my illustrator preferences (didn't work) and just unstalled and reinstalled Illustrator via Creative Cloud (fulling removing preferences during uninstall). It is still not working after the reinstall.

   Please help! This is a large part of my workflow that's affected. The ONLY way I can get a pattern to scale now is through cmd+click on object > Transform > Scale - which is cumbersome. Is there anything else I can try to reinstate the normal pattern scaling?

   Operating System: Mac OS Sequoia 15.6, Adobe Illustrator 29.7.1

   Seems to work fine in the latest general 2025 release, build 30.0.

4. Text copied from web paste white but swatch says its black

   Since version 30.1 anytime i paste text into a file, the text will past white instead of black like it use too. All swatch areas say it is black but the text will be white. This has gotten pretty annoying because everytime i paste in text i have to change the color of it.

5. Tilde key for transforming patterns moves the whole shape instead of the fill clipped to it

   Holding down the tilde key ~ when direct selecting a pattern filled object used to give you the option to interactively transform the pattern inside the object. It would override the transform settings for patterns and give you a live preview when transforming (move/scale/rotate) the pattern only.
   This behaves different when moving the pattern in the 2025 and 2026 versions. It will move the object and the pattern and snap the object back when the mouse is released.

6. Color fill turning grey when selecting outside of Gamut area

   I am selecting colors for CMYK that are not out of Gamut, and it is still turning grey. Very annoying. I've been having so many issues with Illustrator not performing as expected.

7. "Can't define a pattern from the current art"

   Discovered in 29.8.1, also seen in beta 30.0.21. Both on MacOS 14.7.6.

   1. Draw some shapes. Select them.
   2. Object > Pattern > Make
   3. "Can't define a pattern from the current art" pops up instead of pattern edit mode.

   Dragging the shapes to the Swatch palette still works, luckily, so I can get on with what I want to do, but what the heck?

8. 拡大縮小

   バージョン30.0で拡大縮小ツールで「パターンの変形」のみを行おうとした際、ダイアログ上で「オブジェクトの変形」「パターンの変形」の両方のチェックが入った状態（もしくはオブジェクトの変形からパターンの変形に変更）から、「オブジェクトの変形」のチェックを外して「パターンの変形」のチェックのみにして実行するとパターンの変形が何度やっても実行されない。（最初から「パターンの変形」のみにチェックが入っていた場合のみパターンの変形が実行される）
   場合によっては、その後のオブジェクトの拡大縮小も挙動がおかしくなるので再起動が必要になる。
   なお、他の変形ツールに関しては未確認。

9. Using Color Mixer in Control panel for stroke changes the color of the fill instead

   I encountered this problem as seen in the GIF.
   Selecting a stroke or fill from the control bar menu changes the active appearance. When using sliders, it doesn't. i have tested on different Windows 11 machines and different documents. Replicated the issue every time.

   Please update your Illustrator through Creative Cloud Desktop.

10. Spot swatch color is not saved correctly when changing the color of an existing swatch

    1. Details of your operating system: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro (10.0.19045 Build 19045)

    2. The version of Adobe Illustrator (desktop): 30.0

    3. The steps you were taking when you experienced the issues:
       Create a new document, add a spot swatch and set the color to 100% cyan (or any color). Apply this spot swatch to an object, like a rectangle for example. Save the document as an .ai file. Then, change the color of the spot swatch to a different color (for example 100% yellow, or any color). Save the document again as an .ai file. Open the document in Acrobat.

    4. Your expected result and the actual result:
       Expected result is that the rectangle in the file when opened in Acrobat should be 100% yellow, following the example above, or whatever the spot swatch color was changed to. Actual result is that the rectangle remains the original color when the document was first saved. If the spot swatch is changed, then copied into a new document then it displays correctly when saved.

    5. Upload your Illustrator file or a video (screen recording or gif, this helps us most to reproduce the issue and resolve it)
       Open the file in Illustrator and the rectangle is yellow. Open the file in Acrobat and the rectangle is cyan.

    Why does this matter? Many production printing RIPs use the embedded PDF data in the .ai file. If the spot swatch color data is not being updated correctly on a subsequent file save this causes issues in production workflows.

11. Shape changes color every time I reopen the file after saving

    As the title says, every time I start working on the saved file, a particular 1 type of shape across all artboards changes color to yellow or black from white when I reopen the saved file. Still can't understand why yellow or black, I never put yellow on that shape.

12. Can’t edit colors in a selection

    When going to edit a color CMYK mixture the mixtures go blank and then it acts as if their is no fill color. I am trying to edit the CMYK mix to match the PMS mix and it keeps glitching after my latest update. You can see in my image that even though the color is slected it shows no color in the fill or a question mark.

15. Deleting colors from Swatches panel crashes Illustrator

    In Illustrator 2026, 30.0, on a Mac running 15.6.1, any time I go to delete a swatch, any swatch, any number of swatches, it immediately crashes the program. I reset preferences and nothing changed...still crashes. Started a new file in case there was something going on with the old one, still crashes.

16. Recent colors become None when Global or Spot Colors are used

    Some Recent Colors are displayed as the None Swatch when Spot or Global colors have been added to the Recent Colors.
    Turn on in the Edit > Color Settings all checkboxes for warnings about Mismatches or Missing profiles.
    The default is unchecked. When they are unchecked, you will get no warning when opening a file with Global (or Spot) Colors in the Recent Colors and the file just opens without showing the problem.
    When you have turned the warning checkboxes On in the Color Settings and have Quit Illustrator after adding the Global or Spot Colors in the Recent Colors, you get a warning about a Missing Profile (which is not true) when you create or open a file while the Global (or Spot) Colors are still in the Recent Colors (they are available across documents). If you click OK the file opens, just as it would with the warnings off. The warning will not show again during the current session. But if you click Cancel (as many times as the number of Global/Spot Colors that you have in your Recent Colors). The file will open with the recent Global/Spot Colors converted to None.

17. CMYK colors get recalculated in a document with color mode changed from RGB to CMYK, using Color Picker

    According to the user, they often receive files created in RGB mode, and they have to convert them to CMYK, using File > Document Color Mode, make specific changes and push documents further. And while the document becomes CMYK, Ai keeps recalculating supplied values, as if these get double-converted via RGB space.

    There are easy steps to reproduce this problem from scratch.
    1. Create a new RGB document, using Web Document Profile
    2. Go File > Document Color Mode > CMYK
    3. Create a rectangle
    4. Open Color and enter a CMYK color, like 15-30-45-15, tabbing through values. Press Enter while being in the last K field.
    5. Open Color Picker again and check the values.

    Expected — CMYK 15-30-45-15.
    The one I get, using my Color Settings, is 21,15-32,8-47,81-7,71

    If I enter these same values in Color panel — they get accepted fine.
    Sometimes the Color Picker becomes sane and stops converting, but I haven’t figured out actions needed... perhaps something with the order of focusing fields?

    My guess is that somehow Ai treats the HEX field as the last selected one (even though it’s not), adn uses the value in it as the final choice...
    Please fix.

    Here’s a simple test.
    1. Create and RGB-based document — the title says 'RGB'
    2. Draw something
    3. Change the color mode of the document into CMYK — the tab’s title changes accordingly (notice the History displays the generic 'Undo' instead of expected 'Document color mode CMYK')
    4. Draw something else again

When you reach up the first object drawn, the tab’s title should display RGB — but it still says CMYK! ...and if you hover over the title, the hint appears saying it’s RGB (or not!) ...and if you draw something after this, it stays CMYK now.     If I try this in an older version, without History in it, like CC2017 — it works as expected.

    Here’s a simple test.

19. 2026 converted RGB file to CMYK, won't go back

    Got a new computer, downloaded Illustrator vs 2026, and signed in to Illustrator. I opened a file, started working on it, and noticed all my colors in the color panel were CMYK. The overall color setting was still RGB in the title at the top, and under color settings. Not only was everything in the color panel CMYK, but all of the options to change that were greyed out. Somehow, opening up a 2025 file in 2026 corrupted my color setting at the panel level and wouldn't let me change them back. I haven't disassembled my old PC, so I pulled up my file in Illustrator 2025, and the colors were RGB at all levels. It was not corrupted on my old setup.

    I am not sure if the bug happened because I didn't upgrade my old Adobe Illustrator on my old computer, and then just started opening files in Adobe Illustrator 2026, so my files didn't get updated to the new software version, or what is happening. This is something that you need to look into, though.

    *I am giggling that I am the only one complaining about my files getting changed to CMYK instead of RGB?

    So I fixed this piece of artwork by creating a new RGB file and copying and pasting my artwork into that new file. No need for anyone to tell me how to fix the problem, but I shouldn't have to continue to copy and paste all my artwork from the old PC to new RGB files because ADOBE has a BUG! Bugs need to be fixed completely!

I deleted my last account on Adobe forums because I got attacked and told I wasn't good enough to be a designer because I asked a question on how to do something after a big update and change (I had just moved from a 2004 version to Creative Suite when it went to subscription, and things were different). If you are that kind of person, your opinion is none of my business, and I will actively work to get you banned if you choose violence. I am no longer a walk-away type of person.

    Got a new computer, downloaded Illustrator vs 2026, and signed in to Illustrator. I opened a file, started working on it, and noticed all my colors in the color panel were CMYK. The overall color setting was still RGB in the title at the top, and under color settings. Not only was everything in the color panel CMYK, but all of the options to change that were greyed out. 20. Issue saving document on hard drive after creating a pattern swatch, file won't save or AI crashes. Cloud document saves fine!

    I keep recreating a pattern swatch to use on a social media image, and every time I go to save the document Illustrator either crashes completely or won't save the file and I have to start over again. Weirdly, saving to the cloud works just fine, it's only when I have to my hard drive on my brand new MacBook Pro. If I do any other work within the file, it will save. But if I create the pattern and use it within the file, the crash happens. Expected result is to be able to save the file on my hard drive and retain the pattern swatch in the file. Please help!!
