  1. ⚠️ ⚠️ svg filter effect rasterized in image instead of generating svg filter element when exporting svg file

    macOS Catalina version 10.15.1
    Adobe Illustrator 24.0.1

    Steps:
    File -> New (Web -> Common)
    Rectangle Tool (M) -- draw rectangle on artboard
    Effect -> SVG Filters -> AIShadow1
    Open "Asset Export" panel. Choose SVG from "Format" combo box in panel. Click "Generate a single asset from the selection" button at bottom of panel. Expand "Export Settings" in panel, and click "Export" button at bottom of panel. Choose directory for export.

    Expected result:
    SVG file should have a "filter" element. No PNG file should be generated.

    Actual result:
    The exported SVG file does not contain a "filter" element. And…

  2. Can't save or Save As on new file in Illustrator

    Using latest Catalina and latest Illustrator. I have 2 files open. One is an existing file which has been changed. I hit Save, but the file name continues to show the asterisk indicating that it needs to be saved. The other file is new and has not yet been saved. I go to Save As, get the beachball for a few seconds, then nothing. I can't save the file. Save a Copy also fails.

  3. Illustrator could only partially read this file

    When I load the first attached file in 24.0.1 (with Windows 10) it loads OK and I can edit it. When I save it and try to reload it in 24.0.1 it says Illustrator could only partially read this file. That's awful when Illustrator cannot read a file it has just saved.

    The layers (and sublayers) under ALL > WATERWAYS > A-B beginning with A have all gone missing when it reads in what it can. Other parts may be missing too.

    It works fine in 23.1. and I have had to revert to using that.

  4. cmd+shift+n doesn't create new folder in Finder-Save-Dialouge anymore after last update

    When you save a file (save as, save, save copy, ...) you can not create a new folder via cmd+shift+n anymore after the latest 24.0.1 "bug fix update" which I received today.

    Please fix this again!

    I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 24.1.1 for Win and 24.1 for Mac which is available worldwide now.

    Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.

  5. The Hint not applied when export to JPG with antialias set to Hint in "Export for screen"

    When exporting a JPG using "Export for screen", the hint information applied in the anti-aliasing setting is not applied and the expected output cannot be obtained.

    environment / OSX10.13.6/Illustrator ver.24.0.0

    Step to reproduce.
    1. Files -> Export -> Export for screen
    2. Set the Format as "JPG 100" and click the Preferences icon.
    3. Choose "JPG100" and set the Antialias as "Hint".
    4. Click apply and export.

    Result : The Hint no applied.

    We need to get correct images like Illustrator ver.23.

    Workaround
    Use another functionality such as "Save for Web" or use Illustrator ver.23.

  6. Metadata title isn't saving (24.0)

    When I save an illustrator file, it's stripping out the specified metadata title and replacing it with the filename upon re-opening the file. Even if I re-enter the info in Bridge, when I modify & save the file in Illustrator, it reverts to the file name.
    When I export the image though, it attaches whatever title is showing in the file info panel in Illustrator, regardless of whether it will "stick" after closing or not.

    Also to note, if I enter info into other fields it seems to work fine. It's only the Title that is being overridden.

  7. Save As PDF Bug

    Saving a PDF throws a repeatable error that the AI file was not saved as PDF-Compatible when it 100% was. I have tested it many times. The problem resolves only if: Close Illustrator, go to hidden "Adobe Illustrator Prefs" file and open in Text Editor. Navigate to this part:

    /aiFileFormat {
    /enableATEReadRecovery 0
    /PDFCompatibility 1
    /enableATEWriteRecovery 0
    /enableContentRecovery 0
    /dumpPGFwithoutShortcut 0
    }

    And delete the 1 after "/PDFCompatibility" then type 1 again and save. Reopen Illustrator and the PDF saves fine... ONCE. All old versions of AI Preferences have been deleted from my machine and this still happens every. single.…

  8. Illustrator v 24 asset export bug with sizing incorrectly

    asset export bug, it does not export assets at the size selected but instead makes them super tiny and unusable. I have had to download the last version before that so that I can use asset export correctly with what I have selected.

    We are not able to reproduce the issue in house ,Kindly provide following info to nail down this issue:

    1. Kindly provide the test file via File→Package which you are trying to export in illustrator

    2. Size at which it was exported

    3. Any Specific format which was used to export viz. PNG,JPEG

    4. Any Anti-aliasing option used during export

  9. Export for screens > SVG Exports only some of the artboards.

    MacOS Mojave 10.14.6
    Illustrator 24.0

    When I use the export for screens it doesn't export all of my artboards to SVG. I have 21 artboards and only 8 of them are being exported.

    Is there any workaround for this bug?

    UPDATE: It exports all the artboards but it takes a long long time. Is it normal?

  10. Ai 2020 Crashes when trying to place a file from a Zip directory

    When trying to place an asset that is inside a Zip directory, Ai 2020 will crash and require a restart. This is on a Windows system with the latest illustrator 2020

  12. Saving operation get cancelled when Save in background is checked.

    When Save in the background checkbox is checked, saving the document using the script, gives an error operation was cancelled and the automation process stop. But if uncheck this setting everything works fine. This happens when we show our custom progress bar dialog. So I think progress bar dialog is interfering with the process of saving the document in the background. Could you please look into this issue and see what can be done for this at your end?

  14. wasatch soft rip

    wasatch softrip has hot folders. save a PDF in the folder, and it processes the print. Illustrator 2019, worked fine. Save to folder, keep document open. Illustrator 2020 keeps the file LOCKED. Program has to be QUIT in order for the lock to be released.

  15. Overflow UI symbol for text showing up in exported graphics

    When I export PNG files from AI, using the File > Export for screens command, my exported graphics are showing the AI in-app UI symbols for overflow text. This should not be happening. Actual exported .png attached.

  16. Illustrator 24 does not memorize the artboards when saving as a PDF page

    Hi, now I am facing an unpleasant problem.
    After upgrading to the latest version of Illustrator (24), Illustrator stopped remembering the last selected artboard. I have to select it every time I save it to PDF. Quite annoying error. Has any of you met this before?
    The next mistake is, if the PDF already exists, it will not notify you that it is already and overwrite it directly.

  17. SAVE AS PDF NOT WORKING

    Installed Adobe Illustrator 2020 recently and all was working OK for about a week. Now, suddenly, am no longer able to save files as pdfs. When I try, it gives me an error; the file shows no thumbnail and says it's "missing all pdf content".

  18. SVGs: Objects with dashed lines are split up

    Hello,

    I create an object (rectangle) in the AI with a dashed line (8px / 8px). Contour 2px and grey filling.
    If I save this object as *.svg and then open the saved SVG again, the path of the rectangle is fragmented.
    This denomination always occurs just before the corners. In other words, a rectangle is divided into 4 paths and becomes a group...

    Sorry for a late answer. Basically it happens because of 'Align dashes to corners' option that is turned on for the object in Stroke panel. When it's on, Illustrator internally treats this stoke exactly like you have in the SVG — a group of normal dashed lines with recalculated gaps and dashes, and custom inserts where it's required.

    SVG just can't handles this, so to preserve the look it applies this treatment, converting it from the 'live' to 'expanded'.

    Try to disable the option and comment back if it helps.

  19. Unable to export asset

    I am unable to collect and export an asset as I used to in the previous version of Illustrator. Please see the attached screen shot. I select the group in the layers panel, then I click on Object > Collect For Export > As Single Asset, then I choose 600dpi or 300dpi and I get the pop up error in the attached screenshot. Previously, I was able to do this successfully without issue.

  20. 24 ver layer missing when opening in 23.1.1 version

    Illustrator ver 24. error!!!
    Saved a file in the new version with 2 layers, one layer went missing when I opened it in 23.1.1 version (the previous version). The same applies to PDF files.
    Please advise as this is so important for our printing process.
