1. preview for tif images does not change after embedding

   I use Illustrator 2023 27.0 on Mac book pro with macOS Monterey Version 12.5. When placing tif images the preview shows a low resolution image (individual pixels are blurry). This should normally be corrected once the image is embedded. But in the case of tif images this does not work it stays in the preview stage even after embedding. However, when printed it shows the correct image. Therefore there seems to be a bug which does not show the correct state of tif images after embedding. This bug is specific for tif images since it does not show the same for png.

2. PNG BITMAP

   I'm having a problem with the PNG bitmap, in Illustrator 2021 the image background was automatically transparent after import. However, in version 2023, the background is solid or not transparent.

3. Image appears different in review link than in illustrator desktop app

   When I share my illustrator design through the BETA share option one of my graphics displays differently through the link than it does in Illustrator. See screenshot. Image from the review link and image in the actual illustrator file.

4. Illustrator does not insert images from Telegram by drag&drop

   When I try to drag and drop an image from Telegram into Illustrator, it inserts the text of the temporary file path instead of the image.

   Note that drag&drop from Telegram to Photoshop works correctly. The same method can be used to drag and drop images to the desktop or other applications.

   Mac OS 12.6 (but I have tested it on Windows too)
   Illustrator 26.5 (but also tested with previous versions)

6. On Opening, Illustrator can't read linked files and adds multiple copies of linked images

   On some files, on open, I receive an error regarding linked images and when trying to resolve, Illustrator adds multiple copies of the same linked image without actually fixing the original images. It'll add linked images into locked layers where there were no images.

   This started in version 26.4.1 and have tested with uninstalling newer versions, opening the same files on older versions, and installing newer versions until the issue appears.

   Screenshots attached where it shows it adding in linked images, even on layers that were locked and had no images on save.

7. PNG import broken

   Illustrator 25.4.8. (on macOS 10.14.6) can't import PNG files any more. For PNG files that have already been placed in previous versions, Illustrator reports a broken link and doesn't allow to relink. (PNG import worked fine in the previous version of Illustrator.)

8. Links Placement Options does not preserve file dimensions after DRAGGING image into AI file

   Hi. The Links panel>>>Placement Options>>>Preserve File Dimensions does not work for linked images that are placed by dragging files into the Illustrator document. Preserve File Dimensions does work when using the Place file menu option or keyboard shortcut. We have a client that drags files into our master AI file. They prefer to work this way, and we are trying to prevent scaling. Has anyone run into this issue?

10. Wrong resolution calculation on pasting an image copied from Photoshop

    Windows only it seems like.
    1. Create a document in Photoshop, 100×100px, 72ppi
    2. Copy the contents
    3. Create a web/mobile-based document in Illustrator
    4. Paste the copied image

    Illustrator pastes 99.9875×99.9875px image.

    It turns out Photoshop uses pixels-per-meter (biXPelsPerMeter and biYPelsPerMeter) to define the reoslution.
    72ppi is exactly 2834.6472 pixels per meter.
    Unfortunately, the value must be an integer (thanks to BITMAPINFOHEADER), so the convention is to use 2835 (which is 0x0B13 in hexadecimal).

    But Illustrator is going by the letter of the law (not the spirit) and converting 2835 to 72.009 pixels per inch.

    2835 / 2834.6472 × 72 = 72.0089611152

    This is lame. If it sees incoming data spec'd as 2835 pixels/m, it should "know" that this is 72ppi.

    What integration and collaboration can we talk about, when two main graphic whales of Adobe can’t find a common language to exchange data? What a shame.

12. Links panel showing wrong date created and date modified

    MacOS Monterey (12.4) on
    MacBook Pro with M1 Max Chip
    Illustrator 26.3.1
    All placed links show a creation and modified date of Feb 6, 2040. This is every file I open. It doesn't matter if the link is stored locally or on a server. The dates of the file stored in the folder are correct, but the info in the links panel shows the wrong dates. All previous versions of Illustrator show the correct date. This makes Illustrator 2022 unusable for me!

13. Illustrator turning all PNGs into negatives (with or without yellow background) after saving and reopening document

    I'm on Windows 10 pro, version 21H1. The version of illustrator I have is 26.3.1.
    When working on a document, CMYK or RGB, in illustrator with my Adobe color settings synced across all programs, all PNGs whether 16 bit or 8 bit turn negative. I've attached before and after screenshots.

    I've never had this happen before and I work with PNGs everyday, I spoke to and adobe support rep yesterday and gave them an AI filer where I tested PNGs vs JPEGs out. JPEGs are totally fine, only issue is with placing PNGs and I rather place a PNG than put in a huge transparent photoshop image.

    It happens to all PNGs, even the ones I've made via exporting a vector image as a PNG.

15. 'Export as' SVG No Longer Includes Width/Height on Embedded Images

    When exporting an AI file with an embedded PNG screenshot (added via File > Place) as an SVG, the <image> tag in the exported SVG file is no longer being created with "width" and "height" attributes.

    This creates an error when trying to use the exported SVG in XMLmind (which states that there is no width attribute on the <image> tag), and I imagine in other contexts as well.

    We're on an enterprise cloud subscription of Illustrator, so at any given time we're working with the most up-to-date version. In a similar file I exported to SVG back in January 2021, it worked just fine. If I had to guess, the issue popped up at some point in the past 6 months. I've attached screenshots of the export options I've used for a few years now, as well as a sample of the exported SVG output from back in January 2021 (the top code sample) and just the other day (the bottom code sample).

    Similar to https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447-illustrator-desktop-bugs/suggestions/44963893-svg-code-export-issues, downgrading to version 26.0.3 once again exports these same SVGs with the width/height attributes included in the embedded <image> tags.

16. Unembeding image to .PSD change resolution

    I noticed recently that on my new MacBookPro 16 - M1 Max on macOS 12.1 Monterey, with AI 26.0.2 when I unembed an image to .PSD format, the extracted image is resampled and the résolution is changed. Only PSD format does that. Choosing TIF is working as expected.

    This is not happening on my old MacBook running the same AI version but on macOS Catalina.

    So I don’t know where the bug is: On Monterey or in the M1Max Chip.

17. Illustrator stopped reading certain .tif files after update to version 26.0.2

    My illustrator stopped reading certain .tif files immediately after update to version 26.0.2. I reverted back to 26.0.01 and everything works as usual. I uploaded an example .tif file I had an issue with.

    When I drag and drop a JPG/PNG/PDF/AI file from Finder into an Illustrator document, it normally drops in as a link. However, sometimes it unexpectedly embeds the artwork instead of linking it. If I try again repeatedly, it continues to embed, so to fix it I have to go to File > Place and ensure that "Link" is selected (which it already is). After that, if I drag-and-drop from Finder again, it links the artwork as expected.

    This issue is seemingly random and I can't figure out exactly how to reproduce it. I always link files (not embed them) when I place them via File > Place or via drag-and-drop, so I don't know why it sometimes decides to embed.

19. Relink no longer works in most recent Illustrator

    When I update links outside Illustrator, Illustrator no longer shows the links with the recycle icon. The relink button in the links panel is greyed out. The only way is to manually relink the files rather than the nice refresh there used to be! This is very time consuming!
