Constrain (shift key) doesn't work with Smart Guides turned on
When smart guides are on none of the constrain features (holding down shift) work properly, whether it's rotating, reflecting, etc. It just sort of jumps back to one position, often the original position, and won't move. The little magenta text that lets you know the angle etc. also goes a little crazy and looks like it's trying to display a few different words on top of each other.
I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 26.3.1 which is available worldwide now.
Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.
You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html
Thank you for all the feedback. Keep it coming!

Well, it's not that bad, only affects thousands of paid users, who cares…
Downgrade and wait for Adobe to have a little time. -

It's definitely not fixed in the 24.2.1 update :-(

Any word on when the fix for this will be released?

Incredible that this bug on such an everyday function has been missed…

Same issue, seems very erratic and starts jittering around. Will use previous edition till it's fixed.
Also seem to have the glitches back when drawing tight curves with calligraphy brushes but that's a separate issue. Though can't help thinking illustrator doesn't get on all that well with my Wacom tablet. Last few updates have all seemed inconsistent in behaviour.

Works for me on Windows 10. But you do lose some functionality doing it that way.

Unticking Transform Tools does the trick. Thanks for the tip, it was driving me crazy! Adobe should fix this ASAP. I added a screenshot for the German folk out there.

Same issue for me on macOS Mojave 10.14.6

@Oliver: thank you!
For English version this is Edit > Preferences > Smart Guides > untick Transform Tools

@Ribeye: You do not have to turn Smart Guides off completely, just the "transform tools" setting. I can only show the German Settings, but it should look quite the same. Off course, this can only be a temporary workaround... As people at Adobe are already into it, I hope they will fix this soon...

Egor, what do you mean Transform tools ticked in Smart Guides options? Where is this located please? If I turn Smart Guides off, it seems to fix this problem, but if there's something else better as a temp solution please let me know as I like Smart Guides!

I don't have ''transform tools' ticked, or any preferences really, and it takes almost a second for things to move when I drag them. It is especially annoying when you try to duplicate using 'alt', since it doesn't work unless you keep pressing all the keys until the movement/duplication has completed.

@Egor: Thanks for the clue! This somehow seems to fix the Bug, but (off course) you have to accept the loss of this setting. Illustrator 24.1.3 with the same setting switched on works as expected, so this really seems to be a bug in 24.2

I recently learnt that having 'Transform tools' ticked in Smart Guides options is what causing it for me. Please try it?

I also have the same problem. When you try to move an object holding the shift key down, it's almost as if it glitches and keeps repositioning itself to its original position instead of moving to your desired location.

I have the same problem. Its infuriating.

Deleting the preferences is a workaround, but you have to configure everything from scratch then, what I am not (yet) willing to do. Switching back to the last version of Illustrator makes everything work again. I went back and forth several times and was able to reproduce the bug. Illustrator 24.2 seems (in some cases) to have a problem using preferences from the previous version and that is really poor... I will stay with 24.1.3 as nothing essential changed in 24.2 and hope they will fix this in 24.2.x....

After updating to Version 24.2 dragging objects with the Shift Key hold down does not work anymore. Instead of aligning the Object it forces it to stay in place. The same bug appears while doing "Alt-Drag" together with the Shift Key. This is a essential function in Illustrator an I think a lot of people use it every day. I will step back to the last version until this is fixed... Surprisingly this occurs only on one of our two Macs...
