Illustrator CC 2019 is very slow and laggy
I'm using a Mac OS 10.13 Intel Core i7 16 GB. Ever since I updated to the CC 2019, illustrator became laggy and slow. The other adobe apps worked fine after the update. I saw here that I should try turning the dictation off but that didn't help.
Everything in illustrator is slow now. And if I use the blend tool a lot in one document the eyedropper option in the gradient window becomes unavailable. Everything even if it's as simple as moving from one art board to the next or zooming in/out is lagging

My new iMac 27 with 40GB of ram can't run empty new document in Illustrator 25 smoothly. Drawing with brush tool with tablet or mouse is super laggy (old slow Windows laptop with CS5 draws like a charm). Random crashes throughout the day. Manipulating objects is super slow. Scrolling through document is slow. Industry standard, wow. Month long struggle with Adobe support with the only solutions being "Reset prefs" or "Reinstall Ai with CC cleaning tool". Only for 59.99/mo. :)

Paying Adobe customers have become unpaid beta testers. What a shame. Illustrator 25 is barely usable and it is affecting my work flow BIG TIME. Shame shame shame.

THIS PROGRAM HAS BECOME AN EMBARRASSMENT... No other programs open One line of text outlined using hand tool, and this program is chugging, the fans kick, and it literally cant DO ANYTHING!!!!

Illustrator V25.0 unfortunately is still very, very slow. Trying to select and then move a paragraph of outlined text is still extremely slow. Disable "Show Edges" helps a bit as it seems the amount of visible anchors on a complex selection like outlined text causes Illustrator to have very noticeable lag.
How is the team making out addressing these issues? This is close to 2 years without a resolution. As for the "Metal" builds, is there more hope for these Beta builds to resolve the performance issue first? Can we discuss whether they do/don't resolve the issues in this post without "NDA" issues?

this is seriously the worst application lag ive experienced in at least the last 20 years. i used to get this on much less powerful computers - now im running a top of the line 2019 macbook pro running no other apps and its taking 5 minutes to move an object one pixel across the page. ridiculous.

the lag is terrible. it makes it not even useable as an application.

Very slow and laggy under Win10 as well. Illustrator is becoming something of a joke recently.

PLEASE CAN ANYONE HELP??? I cannot even click in AI 24.3 on anything without getting a beach ball for about 20 seconds. I need some HELP HERE.

Exactly what JD said below.
Completely new file with nothing in the document, zooming, panning, navigating through doc using the hand tool/ space is an epic fail.

Extremely slow performance and lagging making Illustrator unusable under win 10 pro. Massive lag (sometimes 10 sec) when moving, selecting, objects or zooming, sometimes when selecting tools.
I had v23.4 installed on the same machine with Win 7 a week ago and had no issues. New install of Windows 10 with the same version of illustrator is unusable even though my machine spec is above requirements and has no other issues.
I've installed the previous version of illustrator to test but had the same performance issues.
All drivers updated, and ran through performance troubleshooting in adobe support pages.

Same here on Windows 10 pro. Slow and lagging performance when selecting, moving, zooming, panning etc. Have tested with cpu and gpu preview and run through suggestions from adobe support pages but no change.

Agreed. Lagging is still horrible -- at least on my MacBook Pro it is. I don't see the same issue on my iMac (which has lesser specs than my MacBook Pro.)
