Opacity mask editing mode is broken, changes made are not visible unless Clip / Invert option is selected
I am experiencing a very new issue with Illustrator: when I draw something upon an opacity mask, the effect is not shown in real time.
Never happened something similar before.
I'm trying different settings with CPU preview, and also the relevant flag in the preferences (Draw and modify in real time, under "Performance" tab, hte last line) but does not seem to affect.
This has been happening since the latest update.

I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 25.2 which is available worldwide now.
Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.
You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html
Thank you for all the feedback. Keep it coming!

Editing Opacity Masks are a major issue. So much so, I never use them. Sometimes they just stop working.

Opacity mask doesn't redraw at all unless I release and remake the mask, or click twice on Clip or Invert Mask. -

For people who rely on complex opacity masks this is devastating to workflow. It has quadrupled the time it takes to create the artwork that I do everyday.

Overall the newest update is the most glitchy version in years. Big time issues with clipping masks and opacity masks. Almost not even worth using.
On top of this 3 freezes which required entire system restarts in one day.
More little bugs here and there with GPU previewing (zooming, scrubbing, etc.) overall worst experience I have ever had with a same day Adobe update.

Hi
My Problem/Bug:
When I am in Opsity mask mode and add a gradient or an effect, I cannot see the result of the added effect / gradient.
To see a result, I have to turn the visibility of the layer off and then turn it back on.
What can I do?

Illustrator 25.1 - Windows 10
Transparency Mask. Once you try to make changes to the mask, it does not show the changes live. You have to either 1) Click and unclick on the clip/invert mask option, 2) Turn Mask Off - then on, 3) View Outline - then back to Preview, or 4) Switch color modes and then go back.
Only then will the changes to the transparency mask show on the screen.
I've tried on two different computers and have had the same issue.

Same issue for me, since the latest update.
I also published a bug report yesterday. -

I have the same issue. The transparency mask doesn't update in real time and the only solution is to keep clicking on the Invert Mask to see the change which is very inconvenient.

Interesting that you posted this today, I discovered the same issue today as well. Switching to Outline Preview and back to GPU works as a temporary fix but it's really tedious.

Since V25.1 Vector Masks don't update anymore in realtime. A checkbox OnOff-Click (i.e. on invert mask) within the Masks/Window forces a redraw and the mask is rendert as expected.
OS: Catalina and Big Sur
Illustrator 25.0.1 works fine regarding issue
