Click-drag fails... snaps back
Click-drag, click-opt (copy) drag, click-shift (constrained) drag fails... snaps back.
Click on object to drag it either with or without option and/or shift and sometimes it will fail and snap back to its original position.
Mac mini M1
MacOS 12.2.1 Monterey
Apple Magic Mouse (no Wacom or other third party drivers)
Same behavior on two identical machines.
Works fine with v26.0.3.

This issue is fixed in AI 26.5 update. Please update to AI 26.5 from Creative Cloud.

Hi Illustrator team,
I am using v26.4 on a Mac and getting this problem constantly. Not sure if this is a problem related to the software or the magic mouse. It is making me extremely frustrated. Please let me know if I can do something about this problem. -

Hi,
In the meantime I have updated again to Illustrator CC2022 v26.4.0. The problem has not disappeared with it, but I can test in parallel and I can also do my job with CC 2021.
It looks quite like the "green cursor" problem has to do with the mouse.
Both the wireless Apple Magic Mouse I and II have the problem.
With both the USB Apple Mouse Trackball and the Wacom Intuos Pro M PTH-660 pen, I have not been able to find any problems so far.
Many greetings Peter

Hi
the current version of Illustrator CC2022 v26.4.0 is causing massive problems mainly when duplicating objects with choice key, but also simply when moving them with the mouse.
When duplicating objects with the Option key, a warning tone sounds and a cursor with a black arrow pointing to the top left appears, and a white cross on a green circle appears at the bottom right - just as if you wanted to drag and drop an object from one document to another.
After that, objects sometimes cannot be moved at all - a warning tone always sounds.
However, such an object can be moved, scaled, rotated etc. with the arrow keys. Sometimes it helps to select another object and then select the stubborn one again.
The problem occurs with multiple files as well as with a newly created file.
The problem did not occur with the previous version 26.3.1 with the same documents.
What I have already tried without success:
-Display with CPU enabled
-Preferences deleted
-Illustrator cache files deleted-Removed all third-party PlugIns, including those from Adobe Exchange.
All PlugIns were up to date in each case.-Uninstalled and reinstalled the program - also without success.
Other problems (more cosmetic):
The "Missing Profile" dialog box when opening a file, moves a bit further to the left each time a file is opened, until it finally reaches the left edge of the screen and stays there.
The same thing happens when saving files. Here it is the "Illustrator Options" dialog box.
I have since reverted back to version CC2022 v26.3.1 - and all is well again.
Since a downgrade removed the latest version CC2022 v26.4.0, I can't test out any tips for now.
Many greetings Peter

Mac Pro (Late 2013)
・macOS Catalina(10.15)
・Illustrator2022 26.11秒で終わる動作に毎度時間を取られ困っております。

Thanks a lot for getting it fixed. I had so much trouble because of this issue. I was so irritated that I went on check my mouse with a click speed tester online service where it worked fine. I even bought a new mouse just to be double sure. Now, I've updated to 26.21 release and everything started working with the same old mouse.

There's a "chirping" sound when I try to move objects and it won't let me. This happens about half the time I try to move an object in Illustrator.

Using Ai 26.1 on Mac M1 Pro Laptop version 12.3.1
With the selection tool, I selection an image and attempted to move it. A green plus button appeared and the object will not move. Instead the object snaps back in place and an audible sound is made by illustrator signifying I was trying to do something that is not possible nor allowed.
All snap options have been disabled and yet this problem persists. Only by copying and pasting the object am I then allowed to move it.

When I try to drag a shape to a different place, it won't move. My cursor moves but the object stays and I get a "beep" as if I'm trying to do something that's not allowed. It's unbelievably frustrating.

Great to hear about the new goal... maybe now this bug can get some attention. It's only been around for about 3 years or so.

Exactly this. It's infuriating. Any fix on the horizon? I'm designing 3 decks of cards and I have tons of artboards going where I'm moving things around - it keeps making a sound and kicking it back. I'm wasting tons of time!

Same here. I can't move any object. Very temperamental and annoying. I can nudge them with my arrow tool no problem. But when you have a billboard size file, forget it. Please fix adobe!!!

The "pre-released" version that Adobe referred to requiring users to download another app called "TestFlight", seems over-complicated and I don't know how it'll affect the current settings.
When will we get the official updated AI version instead of the pre-released version?

I too, am too afraid to try this out.
For those of you looking for a temporary fix-- you can 'downgrade' to an older version of AI... I bumped back down to 26.0.3 and haven't had the issue.
BUT**** I did have an issue with it clearing all my preferences :( ***READ AHEAD:I read somewhere that you are FIRST supposed to click "uninstall" on your current version, because it will prompt you to keep all your preferences/shortcuts/etc saved... ***I messed up and just went strait to the "install" button on the version I needed and it automatically uninstalled the newest-- and no prompt happened, and now I'm having to rebuild my entire workspace layout, re-program shortcuts- and more.
I do currently have about 10 tabs open on researching these forums to figure out how to drag and drop my saved workspace and shortcut files to the new program folder but it has been a mess and apparently other folks have had the worst luck with it.SO, if you do go to downgrade, learn from my mistake. Worst case scenario, take a screen recording and scroll through all your keyboard shortcuts & general preferences; and screenshot your workspace so you have it to reference if you do still end up losing your preferences.
Hope this helps! -

I also received the email from Adobe RE the pre-release Beta. Personally I'm too worried that that could potentially lead to more issues so I'm just resigning myself to dealing with the bugs from 26.1 until they release the official update.
