Click-drag fails... snaps back
Click-drag, click-opt (copy) drag, click-shift (constrained) drag fails... snaps back.
Click on object to drag it either with or without option and/or shift and sometimes it will fail and snap back to its original position.
Mac mini M1
MacOS 12.2.1 Monterey
Apple Magic Mouse (no Wacom or other third party drivers)
Same behavior on two identical machines.
Works fine with v26.0.3.

This issue is fixed in AI 26.5 update. Please update to AI 26.5 from Creative Cloud.

Hi other designers, Adobe reached out to me and ask me to try the pre-released AI version. I didn't want to mess things up even more at this point. Has anyone tried that pre-released version, and how did it go?

it's definitely replicable, in that when it starts to happen it keeps happening. Something about adding the shift button in too quickly after the click.

Still having the issue as of today on the latest Mac OS and CC Versions

Hi Adobe, please provide an updated Illustrator version that fixes this problem, it's super annoying when it happens.

@adobe—any updates on this?? This is having a significant impact on my work. I know this doesn't pertain to whoever reads this, but if you're going to make us pay rent for the rest of our lives, the least you could do is not break our tools.

This is something that keeps happening to me too, or when I select one object to move illustrator will freeze very briefly and a different object will jump to that position.

Is this cursor common to some function within illustrator on OS X, or is it an OS-level cursor of some kind?
I work on windows and have never seen this at all. Makes me wonder if illustrator's functions are being ignored in favor of some OS-level key combination.
**edit**
I see from this apple support page:
https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/pointers-in-macos-mh35695/macthat this cursor is the OS X "copy" cursor, activated by option-click. I don't think this should be showing up within illustrator.

I'm experiencing the same exact thing. It also seems like maybe illustrator is treating any drag/move as if ALT is also being held; I'm seeing the little green "+" icon popup when this issue occurs.
Also this glitch seems particularly crazy when dragging/scaling artboards.

I have an iMac and use the magic mouse. Since the most recent update to illustrator, 75% of the time when I drag an object to move it, it returns to where it previously was. This seems to happen if I move my finger on top of the mouse at all when dragging, but it also happens when I make all effort to keep my fingers still and just move the mouse.
Sometimes the object just springs back to its original location but sometimes the green plus sign appears that signifies you're adding an object to a new page, or dragging an external object onto illustrator. This has the same effect in that it just springs back to the original location.
One final note is that when this happens, illustrator counts it as an action, where in the edit dropdown, it allows "Undo Move" but nothing changes

Can't Move Object in Illustrator CC2021 Using Mouse on Windows 10
I dont have Photoshop, this happened after yesterday's update to CC with the latest version -
Delia commented
Since starting Illustrator today I can't move any selected items with my mouse. When trying to move objects, Windows 10 makes a problem sound and nothing happens. I can move using arrows but it is incredibly frustrating and time consuming. I am having the same problem when trying to move artboards, but this time there is no PC sound and the artboard moves 50% of the time, by a few px. Each time I try to move something, it flickers. I hadn't made any changes or selected any new tool since the last time I used AI and things worked smoothly. I can't find any fix online, as the only forum mentioning this fixed the problem by closing Ps. I have no other Adobe apps open and I closed and launched AI multiple times now to no avail. I really need help fixing this as I rely on Illustrator to work.
