New document dialogue box
When you click "New document" from the home screen, the dialogue box opens up but nothing appears in it. I have to use one of the 6 options on the home screen and adjust manually when inside the new document.

Can't switch to tabbed files/windows, screen turns gray, can't view any open files/windows.
When I have several files open, I can't switch tabs to another file. It gets stuck on one file, even if I click on different tabs, and eventually the screen goes grey and I can't view any open files.
The only way to fix is to close files (without being able to see them!) and restart Illustrator. Hugely inconvenient to close files without seeing them.10 votesRequest to Contact Support ·

artboard name
in previus version Illustrator if i need to rename artboard without deleting original name, i press in text field of artboard. In new version pressing on this field comes to delete original name

An unknown error has occured. Receiving message when opening ai and/or pdf files. CC 2019
I'm working on iMac17,1 with 13.2GHz using illustrator CC 2019
Whether opening a file from finder folder through the program, via file > open I am receiving the same message when opening ai and/or pdf files: " An unknown error has occured. "
This is all of a sudden. I expected the files to open like they normally would, unless it was a corrupt file from a client.
I receive: " An unknown error has occured. "
I uninstalled and re-installed CC 2019 with no changes.

image trace quick action does nothing...
I opened a transparent PNG file in Illustrator, hoping to do a simple quick vector conversion, when I pressed the "Image Trace" button in the Quick Actions menu, in the properties toolbar, I got precisely bubcuss. Just nothing - no feedback, no error, no expected menu of options. Just nothing. The other quick actions don't seem to do anything at all either.

Undo Button Goes Back Too Many Steps
Sometimes when Undo is pressed, Illustrator goes back too many steps and multiple operations are undone at once. This happens consistently when editing content inside of clipping masks, and happens occasionally in other contexts. There is no option to redo once this bug occurs.

can't paste object. the requested transformation....
the image is 5 inches, and I'm pasting into a several page 8.5 x 11 document.... really can't tell you how much time I'm wasting, and I'm very irratated.

Illustrator 2018 Artboard Problem
Every time I try to add a new artboard or rearrange existing artboards it causes Illustrator to freeze and I have to force quit. This was not a problem in Ai2017, please fix.

It does not highlight the page on the artboard window
I select a page from the artboard window. I navigate between pages with PageUp and PageDown on the keyboard.
I'm looking at the artboard window. but I do not see which page I am on. it does not highlight the page.
This problem came with the latest update. (Ullustrator version 22.0.0)

Align to selection bug
This only started recently - the past month maybe? If I select 3 or more objects and have alignment set to "align to selection" and then click the Distribute Spacing icon, Illustrator will default immediately to "align to artboard" and space the objects out across the entire artboard instead of the selection.
If I undo (Cmd Z) and then go through the process again (I have to reset the alignment preference to "align to selection" first, however), it works fine, but every time without exception I have to go through this process.
As mentioned, this only started to happen recently.

Minor Bug (Smart Guides on/off)
When opening/creating a new document,
the View > Smart Guides will be checked on. But they are not actually on. You have to turn them on/off a couple times to actually get them working. At first I thought that they were altered or removed from the last update. Fortunately I figured it out!

Artboard units do not update when I change ruler units

The units of the artboard do not update in the properties panel when I change the Rulers Units.I have to de-select, and re-select the artboard to make this happen.

Deselect Artboards command and hotkey problem
When you pick the Artboard Tool, you enter a special 'artboard mode', and it modifies the behavior of standard 'object mode' commands.
For example, pressing Cmd/Ctrl + A (Select All) will select all artboards instead of objects.
But for some reason pressing Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + A (Deselect All) does not deselect all artboards, but selects them all instead.
And if I try to call it from the menu, it will deselect objects instead of artboards (if I have any object selected) or just be inactive (if I have no object selected).This is hardly consistent and makes deselecting artboards…

Overprint Preview + Show Grid + canvas matching color = white canvas
If you turn Overprint preview on, enable grids, and set the canvas color to match the UI brightness (in Preferences > User Interface), you get a white canvas instead of usual and expected dark.
Turning grid off makes it filled with the matching color again.
It makes SOME sense, but does not really help with anything and makes some users wonder about 'how to fix it'.

zoom in view rotation not centered
After rotating the canvas (view), the action of zooming in and out becomes kind of misaligned.
Generally, when I zoom in/out with an option (alt) key using a scroller on my mouse, the zooming is centered with the current cursor position. When the canvas is rotated, it goes somewhere else.
(I suppose, it's an opposite direction. The same bug happens when clicking, for example, left arrow to move an object but it goes to the right in a 180 degree flipped view).

Reordering artboards / double clicking an artboard zooms me into that artboard
I experience the following disorienting app behaviour.
How to reproduce:
1. Zoom out with all the artboards in view.
2. In the artboard list, find which artboard is highlighted.
3. Click-and-drag that artboard. (Don't even really need to reorder it)Expected behavior:
Nothing asides from reordering the artboards.Actual behavior:
I am now zoomed into that artboard. I then have to zoom back out and continue reordering artboards at my desired birds-eye-view distance.

Export is not pixel perfect
Many times when exporting an image file, Illustrator creates a blurry line near the edge of the image, even if the design extends all the way to the edge. Sometimes an extra pixel is added to the exported file. This is because the artboard is not set to a whole number intersection (XY coordinates having decimals). You can re-align your artboard to a whole number intersection to avoid this, but it can take a very long time to do manually when you work with multiple artboards. A solution would be an option for snapping the artboard to whole XY number…

Illustrator 202 Unable to Add Bleed Above 1” In Existing Document
When making a new document we are now able to add bleed up to 24”.
However when trying to add bleed to an existing document by going to File > Document Setup, it does not let you set bleed above 1”.

B5 Template Size incorrect
B5 paper size should be 176mm x 250mm instead of 182mm x 257mm.
This problem have been circulated in other forum for years.

Scaling an illustration with grouped guides, the guides do not scale
Scaling an illustration with grouped guides, the guides do not scale, even when guides are unlocked. This feature used to work as recently as earlier versions of Illustrator CC 2017. This is a feature that my team and I relied upon to ensure that the correct white space was honored when releasing artwork to other agencies. I agree that locked guides in general should not scale. But if I create a box, convert it to a guide while unlocked, and group it to a logo or illustration, it should scale with the logo even if guides are locked. Illustrator used…
