I came here to post exactly about this. Objects without fill and stroke are invisible during moves.
As for white objects without strokes, they're not really invisible, but since they're a fully white object against a fully white page you can't see them while moving... but you'll see them if they go over a coloured area such as the slug.

The attached video shows both issues happening. The solution for this is simple, while dragging an object the edges should always be visible.

    Thanks!

does a reinstall help? for some error it seems your registry entries have gone corrupt.
Please accept my sincere apology for the inconvenience. Please get in touch with us at any of the other support channels – https://helpx.adobe.com/support.html . Since this is not a generic issue that we can reproduce at our end, we will need someone to look into your machine to figure out what is going on here.

No, reinstalling doesn't help. This happens both on my desktop, which was rebuilt sometime ago so Illustrator was installed from scratch, and on my Surface Pro.

Also, changing the registry key mentioned on my other comment fixed the issue, but only until an update to Illustrator happens. Then the key is reset to the incorrect value.

This is actually a bug on the installation.
I've fixed it in the registry, but every time a new version, or even an update, is installed, the fix gets reversed...

You need to change the following registry key:
    Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Adobe.Illustrator.Template\DefaultIcon

By default it has the value
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator 2020\Support Files\Contents\Windows\Illustrator.exe,20

Notice the 20 at the end. This is referencing the wrong icon.

You need to change it to:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator 2020\Support Files\Contents\Windows\Illustrator.exe,19

Then logout or reboot so the icon cache can refresh.

Can you guys fix this on the installer so I don't have to change it all the time?
    Thanks!

    Hi Everyone,

The fix has been rolled out and is available in our latest release build – 24.1.1 for Win and 24.1 for Mac which is available worldwide now.

    What’s new in 24.1: https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/whats-new.html

You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html

Thank you for all the feedback.

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. Create a new file
    2. Add a new artboard close to the initial artboard
    3. Add objects that overlap both artboards
    4. Create a rectangle covering the whole of the first artboard
    5. Create a layer clipping mask with the "Make / Release Clipping Mask" button in the layers panel
    6. Add a new layer AND MOVE IT BELOW the initial layer (that now has a clipping mask)
    7. Add object to this layer, but contained in the second artboard
    8. Use the Export for Screens function, Artboards export section, notice how artboards look correct, the clipped objects from the first artboard do not show in the second artboard.
    9. Export the images, review them, notice how the objects that should not be showing in the second artboard images do actually show!
    10. Go back to the file, move the layer WITHOUT the clipping mask, ABOVE the layer with the clipping mask
    11. Do the Export for Screens again, notice the final output images now look correct.

Seems like the order of the layers influences the Export for Screens accuracy. This may be a bit hard to follow, so I'm attaching a few images showing the issue.

    Thanks!

I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 23.0.6 which is available worldwide now.

Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.

You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html

Thank you for all the feedback. Keep it coming!

    Happens on Illustrator 23.0.1

    Steps to reproduce:
    1. Create a brand new document
    2. Create a new rectangle shape
    3. Apply a gradient from the Swatches panel to this rectangle
    4. Open the Gradient panel, select a Stop Color
    5. Go to the Colors panel, you should see the stop color with the gradient thingy below (see the attached image)
    6. Hovering it says 'Gradient Stop Color (click to cancel)', but clicking it does nothing
    7. Changing this color and creating a new shape applies the gradient, just with that colour changed

    Thanks!

This bug remains even on Illustrator 2018, for both the new Advanced and Basic toolbars, and even if you use a custom toolbar. Anyone looking into it?
