You are correct - it appeared to be only in my current file immediately after updating. I cant reproduce in new files, but I can cut and paste the "glitched" text box into other files and the hyphenation issue persists. There are no styles applied to the paragraph or characters.
I have attached a test file with a few variables indicating the bug is connected to the text box rather than the content.
Also, since this is fairly minor and I cant reproduce it. I'm happy to shelve the issue for now. Could be a 1/1000+ thing.

Font weight should be immediately accessible in the task bar. Current iteration has poor UI concerning this- see below on UI.

In the task bar's current form the user must scroll to the font they are currently using, click on the tiny arrow to expand the family, then click on the font.

Yes, thats correct - you have to scroll down to the font you are current using if the context bar is positioned in the top 2/3 of the screen.

If the context bar is positioned on the bottom 1/3, the current font appears first in the list, no scrolling required, , BUT if you expand that font to see the family, you need to scroll the list to see the newly expanded selection.

Then click on the tiny tiny arrow to expand the font in order to pick a weight.

Text on a circle: If I adjust the circle(path) in any way; scale or pull a point, the text resets to a default position (defined by AI). Often, I have text inverted along the path with a baseline shift and spacing. That all disappears if I adjust the path. This is clearly a bug as it didnt do this in the past and undo sometimes fails to work properly.

In list view, LACK of color mode marking is the identifying trait of a pattern.

But, in swatch view, there is no way to identify a pattern / accidental flat shape color pattern vs a basic color.

I think that adding a mark on the lower right of the swatch could help. It would be more consistent than lack of a symbol.

    basic color - no symbol

    global - triangle

    spot - triangle + dot

pattern - triangle + slash (or something)

    That makes sense.

Both solutions are cryptic but a symbol on the swatch opens up more room for filenames.

Auto "sort by kind" could help users. Currently, if you sort the swatches by kind it will sort once but then not sort new swatches as they are added. Maybe thats already a request.

Scrubby Sliders in Photoshop were an amazing QOL improvement. Would be great if added to Illustrator resulting in UI that matched the rest of the suite.

I would pay to have these added - oh wait, I am already paying.

Im guessing Illustrator is a complete mess and any performance improvement will require a rewrite. Yes, it's a massive task but it's been 7+ years and the performance was never acceptable. Are other long unresolved issues related to the core engine?

The team cant seem to fix simple 4+ year outstanding QOL issues like hyphenation or adding HSB.

The team doesnt seem to understand the userbase. The team fails to act or communicate on high priority issues. They release fixes that are broken on release requiring months / years to correct such as Asset Export or Remove Canvas Size. Its very disappointing.

Pro users are stuck using AI for now. Unfortunately Affinity doesnt quite cut it yet for pros but its absolutely GREAT for new or mid-low level users.

So, Adobe, knowing this, has no incentive to improve it - only to keep it JUST good enough for pro users, and devote effort to lure new customers away Affinity. So they add "New" "Features" as selling points. Researching Grammarly rather than fix hyphenation or HSB?!?!

The ball in in Affinity's court IMHO. The AI team in particular has given us 5+ years of disrespectful customer service on this forum which is perfectly reflective of their Management's philosophy towards the userbase and the product itself.

Any update on this AI team? Why would a doc preset for Art or Print be in Points? Who uses points for document sizes? Anyone in the world? Why is this a default? And why no response?

Hello Adobe team and admin Egor Chistyakov,
Here is bug / feature request that you can merge. If you search default unit, you will see several differently worded requests that total over 55+. You should merge these into one request titled something like "Ability to set the default units for new documents"

Illustrator's default for Print doc is points...... but all print docs are either in inches or mm.

Do ANY users out there use points for anything other than fonts? What rationale was used to make points the default? Seems like an oversight or bug but if there is a reason, please let us know.

    Hi Adobe dev team.

I struggle to understand many of the AI defaults.

Its somehow as if the team doesnt know their users needs. Ligatures and hyphenation should be off, magic wand tolerance should be 0, HSB default sliders needed etc.

Years of open requests that are so easy to fix. No replies from the team after users take time to write detailed descriptions of the issues. The collective energy customers put into making the requests is greater than it would take one dev to fix them. And the fixes are obvious to anyone using the product.

Whats going on behind the scenes over there?

Adobe, you have combined "magic wand should be zero" and "keep default", does that mean you are finally working on this? Its been 4 years. Why only 25 votes on this after merging the 2 requests?

I am back to follow up on this. I posted in 2019, asked again in 2021. The Magic Wand tolerance should be set to ZERO , 0 by default. Im sure 99.99% of users would prefer this.

Adobe team, can we get a reply please? This seems like a very easy fix that would provide huge QOL improvement for users. There used to be feedback on the forums, now just silence. Most of us would rather have these type of small easy fixes like default hyphenation-off and global HSB vs things like grammerly support which you did actually provide an status update on. What's going on with Customer service over there Adobe?

I have the same issue frequently on M1. Never had on past versions of AI.
Collapsed and docked palettes stop expanding/working. They also fully disappear if I change my Screen Mode (see pics)
