We have the fix available in the latest release. Please update Illustrator using Adobe Creative Cloud application to the latest build for version Illustrator CC 23.0.

This is something that you have to address to the Acrobat team. Illustrator has nothing to do about this setting and can’t control it. There is no option for Illustrator to toggle in a generated document, it’s an app-level preference. Hi Everyone,
We have improved the working experience of Free Distort tool. Now the bounding box will not reset! This functionality now is available in our latest release build – 24.1.1 for Win and 24.1 for Mac which is available worldwide now.

It is not as straightforward as it may sound :) We have been working to take advantage of threads and other hardware such as GPU/Video RAM in places where it can make a higher impact. We are prioritizing areas that are slow instead of making a generic change and destabilizing the product. Product stability is the top priority for us and we have been consistently trying to improve it. We want to move with caution and make changes without compromising on the quality. Hope this helps.

It would be much more useful if FREE DISTORT appeared live on the artboard, rather than in a small preview window, so that I could adjust an object in real time.
