Ankit GoyalAn error occurred while saving the comment An error occurred while saving the comment Nebojša Kuzmanović commentedIt works anyway if you use Alt and Shift only, no matter which you hit first. But it doesn't work if you have Direct Selection tool activated, and then hold Alt, Shift and Cmd, to convert Direct Selection to Selection tool. And it used to work prior to the CC versions.
An error occurred while saving the comment Nebojša Kuzmanović commentedmy workflow is to always use direct selection tool, and press Cmd to convert it to a selection tool. Using that with Alt and Shift to duplicate and align doesn't work at all. Also, moving the side of a rectangle (with direct selection tool) works only by selecting two anchors and dragging. When you direct select the side itself and drag, it returns to the original position.

Hi Everyone,
We have improved the working experience of Free Distort tool. Now the bounding box will not reset! This functionality now is available in our latest release build – 24.1.1 for Win and 24.1 for Mac which is available worldwide now.
What’s new in 24.1: https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/whats-new.html
You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html

The most recent version finally has the Object > Distribute menu added.
Now both Align and Distribute commands can be accessed via menu and have assigned keyboards shortcuts to them.
The order of the commands though seemingly matches the one the panel has: horizontal first for Align and vertical first for Distribute. If you find this odd and want to change it — vote here: https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657-illustrator-desktop-feature-requests/suggestions/45855823-sync-the-order-of-align-and-distribute-menu-comman
Also, Align To and Distribute Spacing commands are still missing in top menus, so please keep voting here to make them added too.

An error occurred while saving the comment Nebojša Kuzmanović commentedtotally agree. I have a good habit of using direct selection tool in AI all the time, and switching to other two selection tools by holding Cmd or Option. And that habit gets really annoying when I'm working in ID.

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for this feedback. This has been avialble since June 2020 release (version 24.2). Now, when you’ll select a single object/group, Align To setting will default to Align To Artboard.
Please update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html
Thank you for all the feedback.
Thanks,
Varun

And another thing I have just noticed right now - when you attempt to perform that operation (copy object with Cmd Alt Shift + drag), the object is copied in its original place. Very unusual and interesting behavior, Adobe, but could you please fix it?
