The current workaround for completely eliminating 'Recent' section in font list is to set '0' in Preferences > Type: Number of Recent Fonts.
But since it’s stupid, please add votes to make it work properly.

The ability to convert outline text into live text will be available through the 'Retype' feature we recently shipped. The released version can identify fonts for now. Soon it will allow you to edit it as well. More details: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/illustrator/using/retype.html

Starting from the February 2024 release, version 28.3, this option is no longer enabled by default for new documents. If you had hyphenation enabled in an existing document, Ai will respect this.

As stated in the article linked below, Pantone’s licensing with Adobe got changed.
Due to this change, customers will need to purchase Pantone Connect licenses to access Pantone colors in Adobe Creative Cloud products.

Alas, this is the world today.

having to work on art, mockups, schematics, anything at any kind of scale = time suck, unnecessary extra steps, and greatly increases potential for errors/confusion/etc (especially when you have to send stuff out for production). i mean really? it's just common sense. 1:1 ratio/scale is the fastest and most accurate route in any situation. (and what kind of size limit is 227.541" anyway? makes zero sense.) free the artboard from the canvas constraints of the past!!!
