Dear Adobe Team,
I am a long-time Adobe Illustrator user and recently noticed that the current Composite Font feature only allows Japanese fonts for the Kanji field, unlike InDesign, which supports assigning any font to Chinese characters.
This limitation makes multilingual design workflows difficult, especially when working with both Japanese and Chinese text, as it prevents consistent font styling and increases manual adjustments.
Our request:
Please enable the Kanji field in Illustrator’s Composite Font settings to allow any Chinese font, similar to InDesign.
Alternatively, provide an option to add custom language blocks (e.g., Chinese) with Unicode range and font assignment.
Benefits:
Improves flexibility for multilingual design.
Ensures consistency across Adobe products for CJK typography.
Thank you for continuously improving your products. We hope this feature can be restored or enhanced in future versions.
Best regards,
