Currently, the User Interface settings allow us to choose between several brightness levels, but the dropdown menus and contextual menus remain in a light gray tone even when the dark UI theme is selected. This creates a visual inconsistency and can be distracting—especially for designers who prefer or rely on fully dark interfaces for comfort, focus, or long working sessions.
I would also like to highlight an important point regarding differences between operating systems. On macOS, the system applies Dark Mode universally, which automatically darkens all dropdown and contextual menus across applications, including Adobe software. However, Windows does not provide a system-level option to darken dropdown menus or enforce a fully dark interface on applications. As a result, Adobe applications on Windows display light dropdown menus even when the dark UI theme is selected. This makes an internal Adobe option to control the color of dropdown menus especially valuable for Windows users who seek a consistent and comfortable dark interface.
For these reasons, I kindly request the addition of a fully dark mode for dropdown menus and contextual menus in Adobe Illustrator and other Creative Cloud applications. This enhancement would:
- Improve visual consistency across the interface
- Reduce eye strain during extended work sessions
- Provide a more modern and unified dark‑theme experience
- Align Adobe applications with current UI standards in the design industry
Many designers, including myself, would greatly appreciate this improvement in future updates of Illustrator and other Creative Cloud applications.
Thank you for your continued innovation and for considering this request. I look forward to seeing this enhancement in upcoming releases.
