   Background Save is now available in Illustrator CC 2020 (24.0.0 or higher versions).

   Please update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html

   I think Background save is now available in the newer version of illustrator.
