When trying to restrict Image Trace to a set group of swatches, it will instead use multiple shades of those swatches. For example, in a trace I just attempted, I set the mode to color, the palette to Document Library, and choose a color group of 3 swatches. I expected the end result to use only those 3 colors, however, it used 14. All of them seem to be shades of the original 3 swatches. The attached image shows the Image Trace window with the settings I used and the resulting number of colors at the bottom.
This has been a problem for a little while now, so unfortunately I can't say what version of CC started the problem. I had thought it was a change in how Image Trace works, but other people tell me that it still works correctly for them.
