@Reio Oh, when I wrote it I thought that you still had the mac in working setup. No worries. :)

@Reio It would be great if you can give it a try with default profile (I also suggest single monitor for the test) and give us some feedback on this.

    Thanks!

    Hi there,

For me the North America profile did not work. But accidentally I found out the following:
If I use the MBP without external monitor, GPU preview works. When I use my Dell U2720Q does not work.

I thought the difference was the monitor BUT it was the color profile. Laptop screen is using default color profile.

I have calibrated Dell with i1 Profiler. When I use the default color profile (and restart Illustrator) IT WORKS.

Now the most interesting part is: If I start the Illustrator with the default Dell U2720Q profile and then switch to my calibrated profile, GPU preview is still working normally.

So im using this stupid workaround for now.

I hope that this might help someone here, or even help Illustrator team to resolve the issue.

Ps The same setup and profile was working fine with Illustrator 2020 version.

    Update:
A few days ago I updated my MBP from Mojave to Big Sur. That didn't fix the issue.

@Reio I had to roll back to previous version to get my work done. I guess the problem is more generic, since there are more than one ways to replicate the issue. Ai switching to cpu preview is the big picture here. Have you tried to double click on a group? For me that is broken too for example. Maybe there are more.

The problem seems to be fixed for the outline mode but when I enter a clip group or when I use the artboard tool I have the same problem. :(
