Another horrific issue in addition to the (now again) solved GPU acceleration.

Window size changes when opening files, some panels are closed as a result and the main toolbar is resized...

The upgrade/downgrade also seems to have reset my settings... What joy. Can't help but feel a little sarcastic...

Ridiculous. I transitioned from Mac to PC a while ago to avoid the GPU disable issues and now it is back...

Please add tests to your workflow for this issue, so it will never be broken again inadvertently.

Windows 11, Radeon RX 580 GPU.

Unfortunately I shelved the Mac Pro and re-used the disks, so it's a bit too much work for me now to get it working just to test. :/

Very curious, I was also using dual monitors with both of them calibrated.

I personally gave up the old Mac Pro and switched to the Windows machine for now. It's awkward, but at least the acceleration works.

To re-iterate. My bug report concerning the Artboard Tool breaking GPU acceleration was merged with this report. The bug with Artboard Tool has not been resolved.

This is still broken in v26.0 for me.

    Screen recording I previously posted:

    https://illustrator.uservoice.com/assets/226793869/Screen%20Recording%202021-02-09%20at%2010.58.45.mov

It still breaks exactly the same way.

The latest working Illustrator version is 25.2.3 with MetalGPURendering set to false.

Edit: In fact MetalGPURendering set to false will disable acceleration from the start. Without it it works until I use the Artboard Tool.

Rainer, I've found that only v25.0.0 works for us. Give it a try.

Just tested v25.2.1 and it seems to be broken still.

Hello! The screen recording is attached to this bug now, since my original bug report was merged.

Please see Screen Recording 2021-02-09.mov above.

@Vasilis My immediate problem is that an unfixed issue was merged with a fixed one. :)

    Hello!

I see my bug report was merged with this. However the issue I described and recorded is still broken in 25.2. Illustrator 25.2 is still unusable for us because of the issue.

This issue is happening when switching to Outline Mode, while our issue is happening when switching to Artboard Tool.

    Hello!

Since v25.0.1 we're experiencing an issue where GPU preview works initially, but turns itself off when one uses the Artboard Tool. Please see the attached video.

We've downgraded to v25.0 now, which works fine.

    Affected Illustrator versions:

    • v25.0.1
    • v25.1
    • v25.2

    Affected machines:

    • iMac 5K 2019, 32GB RAM, Radeon Pro 580X 8GB, MacOS 10.15.7.
    • Mac Pro Early 2008, 26GB RAM, Radeon RX 580 8GB, MacOS 10.15.7.

Hello! I think this was fixed in v25.2 out today.
