I just found out that when I work in RGB mode everything goes fine and as soon as I switch the project in RGB to CMYK profile with already inserted image which is in CMYK colors automatically the illustrator is put into CPU preview.

If I insert an image in CMYK mode (drag and drop) into a project that is in CMYK color profile, the illustrator will also automatically switch to CPU preview. If the image is in RGB color profile illustrator is in GPU mode.

    Hi Egor,
currently this happens to me when I'm working on print graphics. I was doing a poster now where I put a JPG image in CMYK color profile. I also have the project in illustrator in CMYK mode 300 ppi.

I haven't tried the other types since I mostly work in CMYK profile and I noticed it with this one. I may try others.
