As someone who uses both Windows and Mac OS, I'm surprised that the Windows versions of Illustrator (and InDesign) don't let the user right-click on an open file tab and choose "Reveal in Explorer" from the flyout. Photoshop and Acrobat have it, but not Illustrator. (InDesign has a similar feature, although it's at the bottom of the frame and requires an extra click. Points for trying.)

This is a flaw in Illustrator's design which goes back 20 years, at least; it is inconsistent between Adobe's products and platforms; and it looks like it would be pretty simple to fix: the information is right there.

Example of why this is a problem: I needed to edit a file today, a little project which I put together quickly yesterday in a hurry. Illustrator had the file listed under "Recent Files," but once it was open, I didn't have access to the location Illustrator was reading from.

    What the actual heck?

This request's name doesn't directly address the feature request. Most of the comments here are about the total lack of a "Reveal in Explorer" option in WINDOWS. I may start a new feature request, but for now:
So simple to implement! So useful! I work in both the Mac OS and Windows environments, and this is just another thing to remember when I switch from one to the other.
It's built straight into the Windows versions of Photoshop and Acrobat. InDesign has something like it, but in a different location.
    Illustrator simply doesn't have it.
The workarounds are just that, and I doubt that I'm the only one working on a locked-down workstation with a less-than-responsive IT department. My privileges don't permit me to write to Illustrator's scripts folder.
This has been requested for at least eight years. I have a copy of CS3 which also does not have it.
It's surprising that this feature only has 22 votes. Maybe it's because the original request is really more of a Mac thing?
