I’d like to add a visual example and clarify the expected behavior for this feature.
When multiple objects with different Fill colors are selected, Illustrator should be able to transfer each object’s own Fill color to its own Stroke in a single operation, while setting the Fill to None.
For example:
Red Fill → Red Stroke
Blue Fill → Blue Stroke
Green Fill → Green Stroke
The key requirement is per-object color preservation. Each selected object should retain its own original color rather than receiving one shared Stroke color.
This would be especially useful when working with artwork that contains dozens or hundreds of differently colored vector objects, including:
• Expanded Image Trace artwork
• Fingerprint and line-based artwork
• Patterns
• Logo exploration
• Complex vector illustrations
• Production artwork
Ideally, the same workflow could also work in reverse:
Stroke → Matching Fill
I’ve attached a visual example showing the proposed behavior.
The goal is to make this a simple native Illustrator operation:
Select multiple objects → Convert Fill to Matching Stroke → Done.
This would significantly reduce repetitive manual work and make this type of multi-object editing faster, more consistent, and accessible without relying on scripts or plugins.
Thank you for considering this improvement.
