    Just adding even more info:

Illustrator doesn't need "animated zoom in outline-view", it needs GPU acceleration in all view modes.

The bigger the viewport the slower the refresh rate seems to be. Only GPU accelerated preview offers acceptable speed. Turning off GPU acceleration entirely makes everything much slower even. External displays (again, higher resolution = more pixels) cause the refresh rate to drop significantly.

Outline-view (as it doesn't support GPU acceleration) is a lag-monster like it never was before.

    Quoting Joaquin from below, again:

"Ilustrator needs to be SUPER responsive and snappy in Outline Mode like it was before the MacBook Pro Touch was released".
