For over two decades, one of the best UI features of Illustrator was the ability to click a setting's label and have the contents of the settings edit field selected, making it easy to replace the value.

Sadly, the current version of AI 2018 (22.1) has lost that ability with the transform the recently updated properties pallete UI: e.g., clicking on Properties → Transform's X, Y, W, H, and Angle field labels DOES NOT select the contents. (By contrast, the color settings R, G, B, and # fields DO still support this behavior.)

This click-label-to-select behavior has been around for decades and has become an essential part of my AI working process. It's both sad and distressing to see it disappear. Please consider restoring this essential UI functionality; it is a smart UI feature and beautiful, streamlined shortcut for users who spend a lot of time using Illustrator.

    Thanks,
John—an Illustrator user since Illustrator '88
