Properties Panel, values are not selected by clicking on the symbol in front of their field
If I click on a symbol in a panel for a property like W or H or X or Y the current value gets selected. This does not work in the Properties panel, nothing gets selected and I have to double click inside the property field to select it.
It slows down and is not consistent with the way it has worked for years.

Indesign has a proporties panel other than illustator that can toggle the prefix of a variable. This means for example that the 'W' left of the (width) field can be toggled to select all (in the field). See png file to illustrate what I mean.
This option would select a field much faster (instead of double-clicking the variable in the field itself). This is common/default in all panels, so why not in the proporties panel?

For over two decades, one of the best UI features of Illustrator was the ability to click a setting's label and have the contents of the settings edit field selected, making it easy to replace the value.
Sadly, the current version of AI 2018 (22.1) has lost that ability with the transform the recently updated properties pallete UI: e.g., clicking on Properties → Transform's X, Y, W, H, and Angle field labels DOES NOT select the contents. (By contrast, the color settings R, G, B, and # fields DO still support this behavior.)
This click-label-to-select behavior has been around for decades and has become an essential part of my AI working process. It's both sad and distressing to see it disappear. Please consider restoring this essential UI functionality; it is a smart UI feature and beautiful, streamlined shortcut for users who spend a lot of time using Illustrator.
Thanks,
John—an Illustrator user since Illustrator '88 -
I confirm, clicking labels in Properties really does nothing, but should select values.
