    Same thing just happened here. I am SO ANGRY about it because it was a client project that I worked very very ******* and now it's gone. Went to check my recovery setting and the auto-save option was turned off bizarrely although I have always had it on. I have absolutely no clue why it's turned off but I am very very ****** and now I have no proof of that document ever existing. Funniest thing is that illustrator didn't come up saying that there we recovered files like it always does. Please please please let me know if you found a solution to this problem or else I've lost hours of client work. Thank you
