   I believed I may have fixed it. Apparently, when I opened the Appearance window, I saw a tiny icon in the upper right hand corner. When I hovered over it, it said, "Indicates Appearance Contains Paint." I don' t know what that means, but I was able to get my features to look normal again once I toggled the icon.
