    Please share your thoughts on the following:

    1. Would it make sense to have a separate desktop app, just to create charts, and bring them inside Illustrator or InDesign? It may not be on cloud.

    2. Or would you rather have us work on building it within Illustrator?

    For those of you that only occasionally need to create charts, you can use the Datylon online chart maker. It is free and fully featured. Just sign in on www.datylon.com, create your chart and download it as SVG to be used in Illustrator.

    If you want, you can expand and ungroup the chart and edit it further in Illustrator.
    Keep the original in your Datylon account and update it with new data to create a new version.

    Besides the extra cost, is there any other reason why you would not want to use Datylon for Illustrator? www.datylon.com. It does what you describe I think.

    Datylon has developed a plugin for Illustrator to create, edit and share captivating charts in an efficient way including all the features mentioned in this thread . See https://www.datylon.com/product/datylon-for-illustrator

    We offer yearly but also monthly subscriptions for designers that do not use it all the time. Or, if you design charts only occasionally, you can use our free online Datylon Chart Maker and import your charts as SVG in Illustrator or Indesign. Check it out here: https://insights.datylon.com/

    Datylon is developing a plug-in for Adobe Illustrator to create advanced graphs and charts in a very efficient way. Most of the features asked for in this thread are covered by our plug-in "Datylon Graph". Product Management of Adobe Illustrator is giving us full support in this.
    We recently released a stable Beta version and are interested in users who try out our tool and give us feedback. You can download Datylon Graph for free at https://datylon.com/graph.
    Don't hesitate! We plan to release a first customer version by end of January2020.
