Type on path positioning is now quantized and not smooth
Take a look at the GIF.
In Illustrator 2022 users were able to position start and end marker brackets with practically infinite precision, smoothly, even for a long, single-bezier path.
In 2023 these markers are quantized to 0.005 increments! For a long, single-bezier path, this creates laughably large steps (like, almost the width of an entire glyph).
Note that the quantization is per bezier segment, so if you put text on a path that has many anchor points, it won't be as noticeable. But adding loads of points to a path makes it much less editable later, of course, so…10 votesThis problem was somewhat fixed, but now there is another problem with text being rendered wrong or lagging while repositioning along path. If you have a similar one, upvote it here or report a different one, please.

Random text passages appearing after creating a text box
- Adobe Illustrator off of Adobe CC
- Selected the Text Tool, drew a text box, random text passage appeared immediately with no reason.
- I expected just a text box to appear
- I received a passage of Latin with no clue as to how that could happen
- I've attached a snapshot
Please help as I don't fully know if this is a bug or a feature that I have to edit.
3 votesIt is called 'Placeholder text' feature and you can disable this in Preferences > Type: Fill New Type Object With Placeholder Text.

Source Han Sans font doesn't show up in Illustrator
Many such fonts after installing in Adobe fonts, it doesn't show up in Illustrator or other adobe apps.
1 voteIllustrator displays non-English fonts using their actual names in their own language by default.
We can toggle this behavior using Preferences > Type > Show Font names in English option.

Hard to select text, have to click baseline exactly
Finding it really difficult to select text for some reason. It's driving me mad. It seems the only way is either to drag over it or mouse click the exact baseline of the type.
1 voteThis behavior is controlled with the dedicated Type Object Selection by Path Only option in Preferences > Type

Kerning one pair effects the spacing of other random pairs.
I'm having an issue when I go to kern a letter pair, the kerning effects the spacing between other pairs.
I believe this similar bug was reported for CS5 but I am using CC 2018 22.0.1
https://forums.adobe.com/message/4321697#4321697
I have tried:
- Clearing all Illustrator settings at startup.
- Making sure text is not centered or justified
- Using default font Myriad Pro with default settings.
- Selecting all letters and zeroing out the kerning.
- Turning off standard ligatures in Open Type
Still this issue persists.
Attached is an animated gif of the issue.
1 voteIt's not a bug, it's about hinting.
When you change kerning it forces other letters to nudge a bit. And because AI (as any other tool) already nudges all letters on screen before drawing them to make outlines look clear on screen grid, this results visual nudge of those letters who happen to fall on other side of their previous position.
Try to apply Outline Effect to this text and then kern. This will negate hinting.
