Hard to select text, have to click baseline exactly
Finding it really difficult to select text for some reason. It's driving me mad. It seems the only way is either to drag over it or mouse click the exact baseline of the type.

This behavior is controlled with the dedicated Type Object Selection by Path Only option in Preferences > Type

Michael, just to be sure, can you check if you don’t have Type Object Selection by Path Only option enabled in Preferences > Type?
Then, please check the Tolerance value in the Selection & Anchor Display section — does changing it to something larger than default 3 makes it anything better?
Finally, if this still happens — can you please record this as a video or a GIF and share here?
