   This is now possible with Edit > Paste without Formatting command, as per this completed request: https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/333657-illustrator-desktop-feature-requests/suggestions/31954825-paste-with-formatting-cmd-shift-v

   Use Ctrl + Alt + V on Windows or Option + Command + V on Mac.

   Its beyond silly that this isn't already a feature in AI (why should it be so different from INDD i don't know) HOWEVER you can use the eyedropper tool. Paste your text then eye-drop an existing example of the desired text format then it should work okay. Not ideal I get it but hope it helps
