I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 27.0.1 which is available worldwide now.
Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.

Thank you for all the feedback. Keep it coming!

I've had an ongoing issue when I save and close a file. The images, while linked, and or when always saved directly on my desktop, something [I can't find the technical wording for] happens and the image inverts, looses information, or ? and I have to insert/embed the image for it to act normal again. Illustrator preserves the link to there's no way to relink the same image. The screenshot explains it all. Some information has been redacted for privacy (black boxes.)
Illustrator has never crashed at any point. I am using a brand new computer, and have another personal MacBook Pro using the same processor/graphics setup that has had a similar issue. I'm sorry I can't explain the issue further as there's no way for me to single out what causes this to open other than just saving and closing the file as described. Just wanted to bring this to your attention.
