Illustrator turning all PNGs into negatives (with or without yellow background) after saving and reopening document
I'm on Windows 10 pro, version 21H1. The version of illustrator I have is 26.3.1.
When working on a document, CMYK or RGB, in illustrator with my Adobe color settings synced across all programs, all PNGs whether 16 bit or 8 bit turn negative. I've attached before and after screenshots.
I've never had this happen before and I work with PNGs everyday, I spoke to and adobe support rep yesterday and gave them an AI filer where I tested PNGs vs JPEGs out. JPEGs are totally fine, only issue is with placing PNGs and I rather place a PNG than put in a huge transparent photoshop image.
It happens to all PNGs, even the ones I've made via exporting a vector image as a PNG.
I am happy to share that we have fixed this bug in our latest release – 27.0.1 which is available worldwide now.
Going forward, our goal is to fix as many top User-Voice bugs as possible and as frequently as possible. Given the nature of the fixes, some of the bugs will take a longer time to fix, but we are on it.
You can update to the latest release using Creative Cloud desktop App: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html
Thank you for all the feedback. Keep it coming!

This hasn't been fixed. It is such a waste of time. Illustrator is ruining all of my PNGs and turning them purple.

Operating System : Window 10
Software Vers. Adobe Illustrator v27.0I'm having the PNGs linked images issue (appearing yellow background after saving).
The linked transparent background images (PNGs) turned to yellow background when reopening the files. Please kindly advise on the solution. -

Bug is still not solved. My company is using 27.0. This is putting a toll on our manpower, storage and workflow. The longer this takes to fix, the more files to unembedded and relink when this problem is solved.

Currently having this issue and running 27.0 on a new Mac Studio. All is "up to date" too.

I have exactly the same issue on the latest v.27 Illustrator on Windows 11, and posted about it on Adobe support community. Adobe have now acknowledged that the issue has resurfaced.

I've had an ongoing issue when I save and close a file. The images, while linked, and or when always saved directly on my desktop, something [I can't find the technical wording for] happens and the image inverts, looses information, or ? and I have to insert/embed the image for it to act normal again. Illustrator preserves the link to there's no way to relink the same image. The screenshot explains it all. Some information has been redacted for privacy (black boxes.)
Illustrator has never crashed at any point. I am using a brand new computer, and have another personal MacBook Pro using the same processor/graphics setup that has had a similar issue. I'm sorry I can't explain the issue further as there's no way for me to single out what causes this to open other than just saving and closing the file as described. Just wanted to bring this to your attention.

My embedded pngs (perhaps other linked file formats too) are missing when reopening the file and I have to relink then all over again. Not acceptable! I trust these links to travel with the file.

Todos os documentos apresentam problemas para ler as imagens mesmo linkadas ao arquivo ou com pacote gerado. Ficam roxas e brancas e é necessário revincular uma por uma.

For some reason my imported PNGs will distort with the transparency turning yellow and the image going monotone. does anyone know a fix for this? even when i export the art-board it will still show the distorted pngs.

every document that includes a linked file is getting yellow, it's not missing but if you want to make it normal, you must re-link, and it is so bothering my workflow, please fix it
