I keep all my layers locked so that I have complete control over elements. When attempting to copy/paste elements I always get this prompt; "You are attempting to paste or drag into one or more layers that are locked or hidden. Do you want to unlock and show all appropriate layers?" The 2 options to choose are 'Yes' or 'No'.
I am in fact NOT trying to paste to a locked layer, Illustrator just assumes I want to paste to the same layer the elements were copied from, so naturally I am not going to hit 'Yes'. When I select 'No' it just cancels the pasting operation. This 'No' should be changed to a 'Cancel' or better yet, when i select 'No' it should paste elements to a layer of my choosing and not '...unlock and show all appropriate layers...
